My First Amazon Site - $20/day

Just like a lot of people on this site, I've had my fair share of projects and ideas. Unfortunately the majority either fizzle out due to my own lack of effort or they are simply not worth it. However, I do have a 'passive' stream of income from some of my sites but nothing that's to do with Amazon.

There seems to be a fair amount of success when it comes to Amazon sites these days and I think that's due to them not being effected by Adblockers. This is actually the main reason I'm wanting to make an Amazon site, as a lot of my sites don't make as much as they should as they target tech-savvy people.

Why $20/day? Well, I don't really know what would count as a minimally successful Amazon site, so I figured I wouldn't make my goal too ambitious!

The plan

I intend to create an Amazon site which focuses on one specific product - just like all the other niche sites you see on this site. I will create a lengthy article for each keyword I find (or combine keywords if possible) and will keep creating articles until I run out of keywords.

I've done some keyword research already and have found some main keywords that have 1000-2000 searches per month and are between 15-25 on difficulty on my keyword researching software. I will probably end up targeting any keyword that's over 100 searches though.

I've just seen that PRODUCTreviews.com is free, but not sure whether to take it or think of something brandable... thoughts on this?

I guess i would call it 'medium'. There are products that range from $10 all the way to $120+ - there's just that much diversity in the quality of products being made. I intend to of course target the higher priced items, but there are a couple of cheaper items that seem to sell very often on Amazon, so that could also work.

Update

I spent another few hours last night speaking with a friend over Skype, bouncing ideas off of him with my keyword research. He helped me find some even more profitable and easier to rank keywords, so although the niche/product is almost the same, this keyword 'twist' will be more beneficial.

I've spent the morning setting the site up and configuring my plugins. I decided to use a geo-locating Amazon plugin but I've only added US and UK so far. I've also started to write my first article, which will be used as the static homepage. I've only written 500ish words so far, but I ideally want 1000-1500+ in the end.

EDIT: I just checked my keyword tracker and i'm 125th for my main keyword within a few hours! I have no idea how or why but that's definitely a good sign!

Home page is sitting at around 1200 words so far, but I think I'll keep adding to it every now and then.. Bought a logo from fiverr too, which makes it look a lot better as I'm going for the 'simple' non-cluttered look for the overall website design. I have two keywords already bouncing between 50th and 120th place which is awesome. I've added a couple of outbound links to big authority sites within the text, as I've heard that can help. Especially as the site will have so many Amazon links in the end.

To-do list for the weekend

- I'm going to aim to write at least 4 posts over the next couple of days. (I'm doing it this way rather than writing loads and then scheduling them to post.)
- Social media accounts. This will include YouTube videos.

Mini update

I have written 3 articles so far and also noticed serps for 3 keywords bouncing around. I've also hyperlinked certain keywords to relevant articles to help with SEO. I accidentally found some more great keywords when I was writing my articles, so that's a bonus!

Haven't managed to work as much as I'd of hoped, but I had to do a few offline things unfortunately. I'll be updating this journey probably bi-weekly now, until I start generating daily income.
