Amazon Affiliate - 6k Monthly

The Good - Finalized a great backlink for website #1 today from a leader in my niche. They have backlinks from a lot of the most popular new stations across the U.S., links from many diversified sources as well as the top leaders in my niche. I got an do-follow, exact match anchor text for the 35,000 monthly keyword I'm sitting around position 13 for. I think I could finally break page 1, and at the best time of the year.

The Bad - I made a stupid mistake that I should have noticed with website #2. I've been outsourcing the product reviews which are around 400-500 words long, and I just now realized that the content is not unique. My writer has been taking sentences and sometimes copy pasting complete paragraphs. This will not do. I probably spend about $250 or $300 on this content, and I have another $90 article being written right now.

So what I'm going to do is turn this into another experiment. I think Internet Marketing is almost entirely using empirical evidence to test common SEO beliefs and then reproducing the positive effects on later websites. If I learn that I can rank rehashed, somewhat copied content, then that's a new trick in my book that I may be able to take advantage of later.

That being said, I will not be using that writer anymore so long as the content is not unique. While I will leave the current poor quality articles to see if I can rank them like the unique articles, the rest will be unique.

I also snagged a pretty good back-link for website #2. Cost was about $100 for 3 months, which is cheap, but the pages also get a few thousand impressions per month.

You already have good amount of information about what your doing. Also you have earned nice money from first website.
good luck.

Exciting reading. I will follow your journey as I want to succeed as well.

Thanks for the opportunity.

If you don't mind sharing how you are finding these websites to get links from? What strategy are you using?

Edit: Great work by the way, very inspirational.

For some reason website #1 ranks really poorly on Bing. Where I will show up in #1 on google, I will show up on the 2nd or 3rd page on Bing. Any idea what I can do? I'm missing a lot of traffic from this.

I think it all depends on the quality of the content. I'll bet my $100 content is better than the $40 content. Also, that's not what duplicate content is. Duplicate content penalty is having the same content in multiple areas of the same website. So you don't want to have two pages that both discuss the same topic.

Think about syndicated content, do you think they're getting a duplicate content penalty? Nope.

Syndicated means linking back to the source. This is duplicate.

I think I figured out my Bing situation. First of all, I had the <html lang="en-US"> in the wrong spot and therefore my pages were not validating and therefore no meta description was being recorded for Bing. While Google forgives html validation errors, i'm assuming Bing is more strict. It was actually a very dumb mistake that I have known about but did not fix. I didn't think it was impacting my site that much, but apparently so.

Not only that, but I had the language set to en-GB. I still have no clue what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure this is the reason because I did use the correct placement and en-US on a few of the newer pages and they seem to rank apparently well in Bing.

So what I'm gonna do is fix the <html lang="en-US"> errors on each page of course, and then I'll fetch each page in Bing webmaster tools. I'm pretty excited about fixing this, I should get a bit more traffic as a result.

Wow, I love Christmas. Some item went on sale and I've been selling them like hot-cakes. I should make over $400 today, and all I've done is smoke a lot of weed today. :trytofly:

I might hit 8.0% tier as well.

You doing great OP. Did you get those same article published on the 3 websites?

I did actually. It was well received and picked up a few quality backlinks so I doubt I'll see any penalty or anything if such a thing is negatively received by Google.

I did it! Website #1 reached the first page for that 30,000 + monthly volume keyword. It's only at the bottom of the page, but my traffic has seen a huge increase already. Mondays are usually one of my lowest days traffic-wise, but yesterday I almost made a new high. I also received almost 200 more clicks to Amazon than normal, that's an increase of 6,000 clicks to Amazon per month, which equals a lot more $$$$.

On 11/15 I made over $500 in a single day, and Christmas hasn't even started! On BlackFriday, I expect to make over $1,000 in a single day. Honestly, this rank increase couldn't have happened at a better time!

My traffic from Bing has increased dramatically as well. Since I've added meta keywords, fixed the position of the <html lang> tag, and fetched every page on my website, the amount of pages that have appeared in search has doubled in 3 days.

Website #2 - Added a 2,000 + word article. Going to be adding another one today. Organic keywords and rankings in general are increasing every day. The majority of my pages are found in position 20-60 on google, which I think is pretty good for less than 2 month. I've been waiting on a good back-link to be indexed before I build more as I'm trying to witness the effect of this link upon my keyword's rankings. This will give some idea of the amount of work required to reach the first page.

Honestly, the backlink profile for website #2 is already better than many of the websites ahead of me. I think it's only a matter of time and consistency until I outrank them. The next Google update should help with this as well, hopefully.

Looks like those 3 backlinks works
Congrats man!

That 35k keyword was only on page #1 for a day, maybe only a few hours. But I caught a glimpse of the potential traffic, and I want it. I have another really nice back-link lined up, but this one isn't going to point towards the page I'm trying to rank. Instead, I'm hoping a small increase in the domain authority as well as an inner-link from the new page with synonym anchor text should do the trick.

I am worried that I'm pushing too hard on this keyword, but I think making the 1st page could mean an increase of a few thousand in monthly profit for December, so I think it's worth the risk.

I'm also going to run a $20 Facebook ad with the keyword in the description as well as post the page on some popular Facebook groups. I'm hoping a few social signals will also help.

Can you elaborate on the backlinks you're building? Are you guest posting? Blogger outreach? Dead link building? Etc
