How's that for an interest-grabbing title? :D

Every one on BHW knows by now that Tumblr's can be an effective tool in SEO.
ie. scrape expired ones with good PA / backlinks, register them and use them to rank

I was cruising Fiverr when I came across a 'reblog' gig. The Tumblr that would be rebloging my post had a lot of followers; it was only somewhat related to my niche but it seemed like an interesting opportunity. I decided to (attempt to) create a viral piece of a content - a meme - that included my keyword. I ended up captioning a funny GIF, you can see my (blurred) keyword circled in green.

I spent $10 on those niche-relevant reblogs, and that got the ball rolling - the rest was organic sharing from Tumblr accounts in the niche.
I was pretty happy with it - it brought in a few hundred visitors over the last few days and got me some opt-ins.

I woke up today and was getting a crazy amount of opt-in notifications.
Checked my Serpbook account and here's what I found.

Say whaaaat! Of the keywords I am trying to rank for, these ones have the highest search volumes.
To go from nowhere to 11th / 30th overnight definitely shows me the power of Tumblr and organic sharing.
I would've been happy with simply getting indexed!

Let's hope these rankings stick!

Organic shares are pretty powerful social signals considered for ranking. :)

Great! It is hard to get viral content though since you don't know what the people want exactly.
Good luck to you. I hope this isn't another fiverr gig promotion

$10 well spent. I read about the backlinks from Tumblr and Weebly here in a thread but still was confused about them. Now I know what they can do.
BTW, mind sharing some metrics of the keywords like monthly searches, competition?

This was literally the first thing I tried on Tumblr and it worked. Now I'm thinking: what if I made 20 different posts (eg. pictures, videos, memes), bought a small amount of reblogs for each as a test, then picked the one that got the most engagement and really invested in promoting it...

It just takes some forward thinking, the ability recognize trends and capitalize on them.
BTW I don't consider this "going viral" but it was definitely got decent traction and will net me tenfold what I invested.

Just providing a small update...

KW that was 11th is now 7th
KW that was 30th has done some serious dancing (from 26th to 38th) but has finally settled back at 30.

In case anyone is interested, both keywords are holding strong at 7th and 30th.
Definitely a success in my books  will have to cue up some more Tumblr campaigns very soon!

I decided to replicate my Tumblr method with a new meme and link/keyword.
Here's the Tumblr post, which was made on December 8th.

Even though I've blurred the image out, anyone familiar with meme's will know exactly which one I used.
The post has "trending" status, although I don't know if that's even noteworthy. (I don't use Tumblr much)

Here are the results - indexed and ranking by the next day! (December 9th)
And it has since climbed another 5 spots, from #27 to #22.

Suffice to say, this works!

Wow awesome tricks , do you have any more updates ?
