Hey!

This is my second attempt at list building. I tried to build a list half a year ago but then I got stuck with inboxing to hotmail/outlook/live and I basically gave up and tried other things. Now I am trying again even though I did not manage to fix the inboxing issue (fck u, Microsoft).

I will use Bing Ads to get traffic and Getresponse to collect subs (first month free OR till you have 250 subs). I will also use Getresponse landing page (1000 visits/month for free). I will use my own money but I will try to get a coupon for Bing too (every dollar helps).

I don't have specific target numbers to reach as I want to go as far as I can but my first goal would be to get to $1k/month profit!

I have always wanted to do paid advertising and build a list but I have been afraid of failing and wasting money. The first time I read about Internet Marketing (end of 2011) my plan was to get $1k and do PPC (I heard $1k was a good amount for learning). I have tried several ways of making money online but the wish to do paid traffic has always remained. So, it's time to TAKE A RISK AND JUST GO FOR IT!

What I have done this far:
+ Made a Getresponse account
+ Set up a squeeze page to capture emails (I will be doing double opt in)
+ Fixed my first mails so that they would inbox to Gmail (they went to spam at first)
+ Wrote 5 follow up mails
+ Modified a freebie ebook to give away (pretty good one, I tidied it up a bit and added affiliate links to related products inside)
+ Scraped some long tail targeted kw-s to add to Bing ads (I might have to scrape more though, I have only 1.5k atm)

What to do next:
- Create new Bing Ads account
- Connect the account to my CC and add $25
- Import kw-s to Bing Ads
- Create 5 ads to get going
- Set up tracking (I will see if bing ads tracking will be sufficient for my project, if not I will need to start messing with Prosper202)

What I did today:
+ Tried to create a new Bing Ads account, didn't let me as I had already used my real name on my old account. Then read about coupons and seems that they don't work that well any more and people are getting their ad accounts banned even when having legit campaigns with real money.
+ I used my old account and talked to the live support for an hour, I let them take a look at my landing page and asked what kw-s would be ok etc. Got a lot of help and I hope I can run this campaign now.
+ Added privacy policy page to the lander and modified the code on it a bit.
+ Read a bit about campaign settings and made myself more familiar with the Bing Ads center.

What to do:
- Clean my kw-s list from the forbidden words the live support person told me about
- Read about kw groups and how that all works
- Group my kw-s and write 5 ads to them
- Add my CC and transfer money (no coupon for me)

What I did today:
+ Cleaned the kw-s list
+ Added the kw-s to the project
+ Created 5 ads
+ Added $25 to my account
+ Activated the campaign

What to do:
- Wait for data to get in
- Add goal tracking (I have to wait for a while to get the UTF or smth tag verified on my site)
- Wonder why the fck I am not getting any impressions/clicks and then go over my added kw-s etc (most probably, lol)

If you are willing to spend a few bucks, I also recommend you to drop that landing page on native ads.

if you're using paid traffic, i recommend using single optin

Thanks for the video, I will def take a look at that. Isn't single opt in more spammy and gets reported more?

What I did today:
+ I checked my kw-s impressions after around 2-3 days and I have gotten only 137 impressions during that time and 0 clicks. I put all my kw-s max bid as $0.3 but it seems to be way too low. What is bizar is that the long long tail kw-s for exact match also cost like $0.8 to get on the front page. So, let's say my landing page CR is pretty good and around 40%-60%. Then the average sub would cost me $1.6.. that's way too much.. So I need to find ways to make this campaign cheaper. This is premium traffic though.. US, CA, AU and UK traffic, as much as possible desktop and ages not before puberty and after 50 and male. So the leads, in theory, should be quality ones.

What to do:
- optimize campaign, if needed talk to the support.

137 impressions seems very low because 0.30 is not such a low bid on Bing. How many keywords do you have roughly. And what matchtype do you use. If you only use exact mathces than this is possible. Increasing your bid to 0.80 would not mean that you are going to pay 0.8 per click. You could end up paying maybe 0.5 per click so if your CR is good a lead would cost way less than in your calculation above. If I were you I would at least push up my bids for one day and see whats going to happen. You can always set a low daily campaign budget if you are afraid to burn money.

I have around 800 kw-s and I put them all on exact match type from broad match type but on both occasions it showed $0.8 bid for page 1. Seemed weird that all the kw-s have exactly $0.8 for first page.

I will try upping the bids and maybe using phrase match for the same kw-s. Most of the impressions comes anyways from 2 kw-s only My daily limit is $5.

I have been gathering data the past days and dealt with my other project.

What I did today:
+ Nothing, waited to gather data

Stats:
Impressions: 999
Clicks: 18
CTR: 1.8%
Avg.CPC: $0.43
Total Spend: $7.70
Opt ins: 0

What to do:
- Learn how to set up Prosper202 and decide if I need it
- Change my landing page to get better quality score (it's around 6 atm) to get lower bids.
- Change my landing page design to get opt ins.
- Search for more ways to get opt ins cheaper.

Yeah, like you can see, my cpc is really high, my CTR is actually pretty nice but 0 subs is very bad.. I would have at least expected 2-3 opt ins but it is what it is.

I like list building threads, since it's what I do too. I saw you active on Godziwa's thread and if you have half the commitment he showed then you'll do well .

Quick note about Bing Ads, I find that they always raise the CPC well above the CPCs shown in their keyword tool, even if you have 10/10 QS. The cynic in me thinks that Bing make it seem lower to entice people in and then hit them with higher CPC. That's my experience anyway, just keep it in mind, as long as you make a profit from you subscribers, then you can just scale anyway. If your avg CPC is 43c, work out what is your avg cost for each eventual subscriber? Then how much money can you make from each subscriber on total avg? Those are the costs you need to work out.

I don't think Bing Ads will make this thing profitable.. atm even if I had crazy CR of 50% when people land to my opt in page.. the average sub would cost $0.86.. which is pretty expensive. My niche is something where a lot of CB ebooks are made for.. but not that many CPA or other network ones.. and now CB has decided to go full retard and everybody are reporting that their earnings are killed. My good friend who usually makes 2-3 sales/day on CB has had like a week worth of 0 days

As you have been building lists then do you have any advice on some cheaper ways to build a list?
