Hi,

I was wondering, I want to set up a small forum on free hosting - I don't intend on paying for hosting as this would be a little hobby and nothing really meant to be serious - about the Donkey Kong games.

Where could I get good free hosting? My email provider is GMX UK, and I don't know if any free hosting sites support this email system (I don't have a mobile phone, so I can't use Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook) - help needed please?

I heard some hosting sites are linked to 'Hostinger' which has a poor reputation and these hosts are terrible even for free hosting.

Thanks,
DixieKong1995

PS Is this the wrong forum for this kind of thing, is it just about SEO and business only? I'm not making one or anything :)

brother, there are many. hostinger has a network of free hosting sites. look for free web hosting without ads and you will come to know tens.

How about just using a web 2.0 site like wordpress or blogspot or whatever?

I saw some free giveaways for hosting packages in the freebies section. Better check those out too..

Honestly ive seen so many posts of people wanting things for free... Folks just learn once and for all that free things are not good period. If you want to take something seriously you have to invest, of course you said it was a hobby, so nothing serious but imagine that your blog/website starts to get thousands of views per day you know whats going to happen? Your free domain will not have the capacity to support thousands of viewers simply because its free... So my point is why not make your blog something serious? ive seen many dumb "spaces" online with dumbass content and still generate a lot of traffic and with traffic comes money, so if other people can make it, why cant you make it too? so turn that hobby into a serious "business"

What do you mean by 'non-serious site'?? Are you talking about comic sites dude?? If you are asking for free hosting sites then wix dot com, FreeWebHosting dot com etc could be good alternative but after a defined limit, they will charge from you.

These days you can even find vps for free. What do you plan to run ? Hostinger owns probably more than half of free shared hosting sites out there.

Yes, it's better to pay for hosting yet having a free web host temporarily that works fine is good.

000webhost is pretty good for free hosting. Bandwidth is 100GB with lots of space. But their CPU limit is quite low. You are good to go if your daily visits are limited to 500.

Websites such as Blogger, Site Rubix and Wix all have a free hosting plan.

The only downside would be that it would fall under a sub-domain.

It's good for practice, and later you could transfer it to your own domain.

I'd say fa5t.us.
I use this to host most of my CPA landing pages/test sites. Don't go with 000webhost. They got hacked recently and you never know,it could happen again.

What I suggest you is you can starting host your website with free hosting providers and once you think your forum needs some security then you should move to paid hosting. You can look for share hosting service, since share hosting is comparatively cheaper as compare to VPS hosting.

Why you should not look for free hosting as a permanent solution.

1. Server Uptime is the main concern right ? You can't expect 100% uptime in free hosting.

2. Most of the free hosting provider disable outing mail routing from the free hosting plan. You should check this before going for any free hosting provider.

3. Scope of technical support is very less.

4. What about the security of the content ?

If above points are not your concern you can go for free hosting :)

000web host is also a free hosting site ,which works good for front end like php.
