Adwords + Voluum: Tracking Exact Search Queries?

I've been running Adwords campaigns successfully for some time, but I'm at the point where I need to scale further, and to do that, I need more data. At the moment, I'm passing the {keyword} variable from Adwords to Voluum and have successfully tracked conversions at that level. However, to scale, I need to incorporate more broad match/broad match identifier keywords into the mix.

Now, as you know, google no longer passes the exact search query data through URL, so there is no way to automatically retrieve the exact search query via Adwords > Voluum token. So, in essence, when I'm running a broad match keyword, and getting 50 search queries that match that bid keyword, I can only see the bid keyword in Voluum, but not the 50 exact search queries that triggered it.

My question is -- does anyone have a solution to this issue? I'm willing to buy new tracking software, or whatever I need. I know that search query data can be retrieved via Google API, so I'm hopeful that maybe there is a PPC tracking platform out there that actually integrates via API and pulls this data, while simultaneously providing tracking functionality similar to Voluum.

If not, then maybe I could pass/retrieve the GCLID through voluum somehow and then manually upload conversions back into Google. I would just track via Google's conversion pixel, but that doesn't work with Voluum because they only allow postbacks, and it doesn't work with CPA networks because the html pixels are rejected when fired from Google for some reason (maybe I'm doing it wrong?).

Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

UPDATE: I figured out how to pull the GCLID through voluum to CPA Network. Now I'll just let some conversions roll in, stick them into a .CSV and upload/import into Adwords later tonight. This will have to be a temporary bandaid, but hey, the work will be worth it for that beautiful data! :)

Yep, just uploaded my first batch of conversions. This seems to be a workable solution for the moment. I'm inclined to have an advanced programmer automate all of this into a neat little package of brilliant software, though. :)

I use a custom built one, So I can't comment on other third party trackers. However I am sure there are multiple such tracking software out there which are quite good. I did use a third party tracking tool up until about 3 years ago but then it did not provide me with everything that I needed and in the specific ways that I wanted. So if you want customized data tracking then you will have to get one built for you. The I one I got built for me has a very simple tracking parameter adder and a UI to extract custom reports including conversions.

Thanks for Reply

Do u know what is mean with (Now I'll just let some conversions roll in, stick them into a .CSV and upload/import into Adwords later tonight)

In which part in adwords he can upload .CSV and what will this do to the account ?

Right now there is no other way around the daily manual csv upload or api. We've been trying to work out something to actually fire server server pixel but we dropped it and started working on the API so it's 100% accurate and isn't a workaround. Still in testing tough, so no miracles before January.
hope that helped

As far as i know applying in adwords API is hard and require programming skills

Can u plz explain what is the daily manual csv upload?

We've got a good dev team working on this, so it's just a matter of time until its available to all our users.

In order to upload conversions into adwords you need to first do a couple of things:
1. enable auto-tagging into your adwords settings.
2. Set the gclid parameter in your tracker (not sure how you do that in other platforms, but that shouldn't be complex)
3. Define conversions in adwords

What will happen is that the conversions will be associated with the gclid and you will be able to download them into a csv.

You need to take the google adwords csv template to upload conversions and follow the adwords guidelines to do the actual upload.

Go to the google support site and search for 2998031 and you will have the full process/guidelines.
