Scraping Expired 2.0 properties from scrapebox

Instead of using the Alive Checker, we have a dedicated Vanity Name Checker addon which works completely different and checks for text strings on the Web 2.0 pages as well as response codes.

Also the video is 18 months old, and since then the Vanity Checker has more platforms and is now fully trainable so you can add new platforms or modify existing ones yourself.

This is where the Automator Plugin excels http://i.imgur.com/RkVuMKf.png

You can make a jobfile to do all the steps, so each time you want to run it you just open keywords.txt and enter one or more keywords and start the job.

Hey SweetFunny, I'd have to try it myself but last time I tried to use the vanity name checker the result was the same as the alive checker for 404 codes.

Edit: I guess it might work by alive checking then deleting and replacing all the http:// and .tumblr.com and pasting the keywords in to see what is available for reg. If that is the case then that saves me a shit load of time.

Little do you know that's me talking and that was an old website. I've since moved on. Cheers for sharing here.

I have the same problem, around 50% of results pull up 404 error

It wont be the same as the Alive Checker, the Alive Checker will only check for the response code such as a 404. The Alive Checker is no good for checking Web 2.0's because for example if the proxy you are using returns a 404 it will just see that and mark the URL as available but the Vanity Checker won't.

The Vanity Name Checker looks for the response code "and" text on the page and both those things must be true before it classifies it as available. See the resultcode and mustcontain.

So if a URL returns 404 and a blank page, the Alive checker will mark it as available but the Vanity Checker won't because the text doesn't exist. Same with taken URL's, it must return 200 "and" have the blogName= in the page which taken blogs have. You can also add multiple multiple conditions for Available and Not Available for each platform, just check the LiveJournal engine on how that's done http://i.imgur.com/8H0tbil.png
