I just need to whine and complain for a minute.

I want to make about $60 to $120 by the second week of next month. I'm trying to fund a project. I know that I can go back and do content writing, but the thought of going to textbroker or write.com just makes me want to throw myself out of my window (I live on the first story of my house so I wouldn't hurt myself but you get the point).

I'd much rather do private client work because that's interesting and far more flexible. It's just silly of me to market for a short term/one-off project.

I can take the money out of my savings but this isn't an emergency. Plus once I start taking money out of my savings for mundane things I don't actually know how to stop. So that's a no.

I know my only option is just to login to Textbroker and start doing work but it's just the IDEA of it that makes me want to start screaming and crying like a baby.

I'm actually way too old to be whining about something like this. "I know I can make money but I don't want to do it this way" is such a first world problem. I just don't want to!

So I'm going to bend over now, and you can all get in line and shove your feet up my asses one at a time. I need you to be gentle though because I just had beans and coffee and I've been on and off the toilet all day.

You'll take that back once you see this is the first guy in line, and he has more than enough feet to share with you.

...Not...even...remotely what I meant.

I am so, so horrified. So very, very horrified. *covers my eyes*

Dude, I know this feeling. For doing content writing, you simply should get good client not only textbroker.com
Good luck dude. Where are you from? Is english your native language.

I'm from the US and yes, English is my native language.

I let go of all my clients after I got burned out so textbroker is my only option right now.

Ugh textbroker. I log in to that place everyone once in a while, click around, think "these people have junk websites" and log off. That site caters to pure junk.

I'm the same way though - I refuse to take out of my savings unless it's an emergency. I'll actually put money into my savings knowing I'll strap myself for a week but won't take the money out after I put it in. lol

Owning a house means I need an emergency fund. This year they raised the taxes on residential properties statewide, which threw me for a loop. I wasn't prepared so this project is supposed to help me come up with the funds to pay for the taxes.

Again, I could take it out of the emergency fund, but winter is coming up, and Lord only knows what's going to happen then. We had an ice storm last year and some areas had no power for like 3 days.

So yeah I need that emergency fund. I really have to be convinced it's an emergency.

But you're right: textbroker is the pits. I think that's why I hate it. I logged in today and found an assignment where someone wanted a 275 word detailed blog on why people with Alzheimer's need a routine. 275 words.

I feel like I'm lowering my standards.

You guys are wonderful. Thanks for helping a girl out. :)

Except for Zwielicht who just made me want to plug my butt with a cork.

I'm kinda glad there's no smiley for that.

Sorry, I felt that the opportunity to make that joke couldn't be passed up; I needed something to cheer myself up.

However, in the absence of an appropriate smiley, this smiley with suffice: :aargh4:

By the way, did any of you know that if you click on the smiley icon and click on "More", there are a lot of weird smiley icons of a dubious nature. I rarely explored that area of the smileys, but I found some really weird ones like these:

:blowjob:

Textbroker sucks but you have to convince yourself that you are at least doing work for Textbroker, not working in a supermarket, or anything similiar to that. Or flipping burger meat at McDonalds. Why don't you try some other freelancing sites? :)

Hi,
Did you try Fiverr ? I made a pretty good money from it. $200 during my first week. I'm a graphic designer but I guess it will work for you too.
English isn't my first languages and I spent a lot of time reading the design briefs of huge projects trying to understand them ( Improving my English at the same time ) I made 9k so far. It took me two months to master adobe illustrator and the whole graphic design stuff ( not completely master but let's say I can do pretty clean stuff) You certainly should give Fiverr selling a shot ! Good luck :)

I know your pain. I used to write tech guides for demandstudios. After a few weeks of it the very thought of logging into their site made me want to eat a glass bottle and get run over by a train.

I'd second giving fiverr a try, showcase some of your work and hopefully you'll get some orders in.

Sometimes, writing it all out and whining to yourself lets you vent just enough and reflect on what you're feeling. Then you realize you need to stop being a lil' b**** and just make it happen. I do it to myself all the time :p

I made $90k in 2010 of of DMS alone. You just had to know how to work the system and not argue with the eds. I would factor in a loss of articles each week and write extra to make my goals due to the 5-10 articles I knew would be flat out worthless to revise or get rejected.

Very impressive! Don't think I racked up that amount. Shame they no longer have any work, as frustrating as it could be, it was pretty much guaranteed money.

I think i am missing something here...

Why dont you guys write for yourself(adsense/amazon site, kindle) or partner with someone up who takes care of SEO/traffic and you do the content/site?

I always think highly about content writer since i hate writing content. On almost every MMO method there is a need for content writing and it takes money to A/B test writers and find one that suits you.

Yep, it sucks they are gone. I think about it often! There are days I wish I could just log in and make a few hundred bucks without dealing with customers and personalities and all that shit. Those days are long gone!

The OP said she needs money this week. What you propose is great and all but it's much harder than writing for these outlets and just getting paid. Besides, I have no interest in having some junk MFA site and making pennies. There's money and then there is BHW "I made $150 this month!" money.
