Greetings Guys ! I'm from brazil and I always had some dollars bills stored. I bought them long time ago and today, planning to use them, I checked and noticed that they are very old bills, some from 1950 ... My friend told me that i would have problems using it, i was wondering what I can do ? (They are $100 bills). Thanks

What condition are they in? Collectors might be interested. Otherwise just see if you can exchange them at bank.

They are in very good conditions, Do you think collectors would be interested ? The problem is that i don't live in the USA and i have no idea how i would do that here ... (Exchange them)

Yeah, you should be able to exchange them easily, just go to any Bureau De Change, currency exchange or bank

That is worth more than you think. That is an old bill in good shape and it's also a star note (meaning a replacement for a misprint). I wouldn't exchange that. You could sell just that one $100 bill for $200 USD easily. I would research what all you have and then throw that shit on Ebay. Currency collectors go wild there.

I have 3 trade coins dollars from 1865 , 1872 and 1876 :) pretty well conserved but not like I saw in ebay on those small plastic little boxes :) one of the coins similar with mine been sold with $500+

PS. @ OP , my honest advice will be to keep your old bills , some day they will be worth more than today ...

It would be easy to exchange - done this with old notes before. I have no idea if they are worth more but obviously worth checking first.

On current US bills there is a statement:
"This note is legal tender"
If you have any other statement than that a collector will be interested and it's worth much more.
Sometimes even Hollywood studios will buy them for period-accurate props.

EDIT: I JUST NOTICED yours says "Will Pay To The Bearer On Demand" ( the equivalent in grains of gold )
so this note was issued when USA was still on The Gold Standard and a dollar bill was exchangeable for
a particular number of grains ( parts of an ounce ) of gold. Back then money had real value.
Now it only represents a debt that USA has to the privately owned bank "The Federal Reserve Bank"
so this note is worth more to a collector than the value printed on it - how much more depends on
the condition of the bill. I can see that this one has been folded, so, it's hard to say.
However if you want to get an idea - put the best one on EBAY ( look at how other us dollars are
listed - the things said in title and description ) and then just end your auction before someone wins
but look at the highest bid and you'll know what the market might offer.
I don't recommend selling money on ebay - chances are you'll get ripped off. Just use ebay as a test
facility to see what price you might get from a collector before you go looking.
Hey, maybe call the guys from PAWN STARS - the TV show about the pawn shop in Las Vegas.
http://gspawn.com/

They buy paper money - and I would trust sending them a FedEx package with ( a few of ) the bills
if they made an offer based on photos. I trust they'd pay you what they promised. But don't do more
than 3 at a time in case Fed Ex "loses" the package - and - don't list CASH or MONEY on the waybill.
Just say "Paper Collectables"

Those are worth more than 100 USD each, you could probably at least double your money, sell them on ebay

This thread is hilarious. Let me the first to chime in and suggest that selling counterfeit money is an international crime. I don't think your bills are real because exchanging the US dollar almost anywhere in the world is not hard at all.

As such, your bills are fake. Have a great day!

Quality looks pretty poor considering there is a crease and a purple smudge at the very least. Lookup the series (year) plus the mint mark (the letter under the year). The year plus mint mark plus condition will give you a value. At the very least it's worth $100 if it's a real bill.

If the bills are real just go over to ebay and check how much people are selling them for. I'm sure this is going to be the best way to get the most out of your bills unless you hold on to them. Another option would be to take them to a coin collector and see what he has to offer. I would avoid any banks or currency exchangers as they'll most likely give you current value.

Take a look at that website for some info.

So you are implying that I'm selling fake dollars ? Actually, since I created this thread I called a few currency exchange stores and websites (If that's what it's called) and they told me that they would have to evaluate the conditions and they would might apply some fees for exchanging depending on the bill. I mainly created this to know if a us bank would exchange this without problems or bs, and to know if it's better for me go to the USA and exchange or exchange it here. Now, I'm looking forward to know if I can sell it for more, since some members told me some people out there would be interested.
