My Journey With My Bots...

This is my second account, I registered over a year ago, and lost the first, sorry.

I'll spare you the gory technical details. But suffice to say, I was broke and unemployed last year. I needed to up the view count on my advertisements, because terrible cpm payouts. I couldn't get any of the recommended bots to work. General Lee didn't work. Actually it partially worked, it kept crashing. TViewer wouldn't even work. So, I built my own software suite.

Anyway, I was new to all of this. I was learning as I went. In 2014, after several revisions of my software, trial and error, etc etc, I made about 5000.00 off of PlugRush, Juicy, and ExoClick. Exo was the one that really paid out.

Anyway, I promised myself that if I were ever caught, I'd hang it up. Well, in 2014, I played it safe, and was never caught.

In 2015 I had no reason to run bot farms, as I was happily employed.

In July 2015, I tried one more time, just for fun. I made almost 1500.00 in 7 days. One day I made over 545.00. In one particular hour, I made over 27.50 per hour. (sorry, I'm a stats nerd). This was mainly through Exo's mobile redirect. On this particular day, I pushed over 5MM impressions that day, and I didn't even put on my pants. This was the moment I knew it's way too easy to make money on the web. I also came to the realization that it's truly possible to make real money utilizing technology, even if legit. It kinda puts a sour note about working a real job.

I've received my Exo payout, and at the time the account was still legit. For whatever reason, Exo never cancelled my account. I guess they don't give a care. And as hard as it might be to believe, I cancelled the account on my own.

All that aside, if I can share some screenshots, I'd happily do so. I guess I just want to offer a story that I never read on here. True blackhat methods really work. And that is kind of scary. The allure of easy money. Hopefully you can see why I had to walk away.

Anyway, I'm ready to go legit now. But, to be honest, I dunno if I'm interested in doing it slowly. I'd like to make a few hundred a day, minimum. I'm still trying to figure that part out.

Thank you for your interest. I use Visual Basic 2008 for the entire project. I think it's a great language to use, especially when best practices are followed. It has helped me create 3 distinct types of robots, a proxy grabber, a proxy verifier, a fake account generator, iMacro Scripting generator, proxy management, and more.

I am currently working on automatic Google scraping, and key word management, to assist with SEO and rank. Email, Video, and Image scraping are next on the list.

It's pretty much stealing money from advertisers. It's fake traffic and thus never produces any value to anybody.

Good questions:
1. For the exoclick traffic, specifically where I made about 1500 in 7 days, I used 2 of my abc robots. I used a cluster of 2 netbook laptops that are about 3 & 8 years old. In this setup, I wouldn't have a single point of failure. There were sometimes where 1 node had to be rebooted. As such, I'd keep botting on the other node. Also, it really depends on the campaign I'm running. Sometimes I would utilize different infrastructure configurations.
2. This is a simple question, with a complicated answer. But, I will be as succinct as possible. My first robot was based on GeckoFX for many reasons. It is a full desktop browser with many features. However, it's also very large and slow. My second robot is based upon a command line user agent. It is faster, but less functional. My third robot is based off of a network stressing tool. It is command line based, light and extremely fast. This is the robot I used to attack Exo's network. Every robot has a specific use case. There was a fourth robot that used pcap to construct fake TCP packet requests. But it was never completed. If I ever get my fourth robot to work, I will be proud.
3. I try to keep my robots actions and goals simple. For example, I will feed a script to the robot, and it will create an http get request. While that sounds boring, the importance is in the script. I could be visit webpages to up my impressions, I could be scanning iframes and clicking on banners, or I could be constructing fake gets for mobile redirects.
4. Yes, I have thought about selling my software. I've also thought about giving it away. Both of these options present me with dilemmas. Because of such, I have held off.

Just to be clear. I was never caught. To me that is the scary part, being foolish and never knowing when to walk away. The only reason anyone knows anything, is for the fact that I'm sharing my story.

You are correct. Even though I researched, and couldn't find anything that explicitly says that click fraud is illegal, it is still theft to me.
