I've been with HostGator, used their shared hosting. The support is alright actually. But the performance is not really up to par. I'd suggest you pick a different one. In terms of picking a hosting that is ok with blackhat... some say HostWinds, but even HostWinds has to abide to take downs and any other complaints that might come in.

I like HostGator for hosting, but I buy my domain names through godaddy. I like the features on HostGator, and their reliability is great. No problems with them, and over time, I'm moving sites I have to them as they come up for renewal on other hosting providers.

If you guys had a bad experience with HostGator then tell us what happened, instead of just saying -"not good for bh niche."

I have been with them for more than 5 years and never had a problem, other than brief moments down. In regards to support, what are you guys talking about? Whenever I call them I get someone on the phone right away and the issue is resolved. The only downside to them would be the overall cost but paying clients make up for that.

I have been with hostgator from couple of months, so far there is no downtime, they are good in terms of service and response.
