Shoutout to lewy2k for this method... ive taken the last few weeks to do a lot of in depth research and learning and have successfully went from nothing to over 20 new sales totalling over $3000 in purchases. Spent time creating a great listing layout, editing and improving listing titles... even had my FIRST piece of software built to do some of the things i couldn't automate myself. Now im price tracking, and doing a ton of filtering by my own standards to find the best things to list. im sure everyone comes up with their own formula for this part.
Already figured how to scale up , got a lot of and now its just about time and number crunching to see what products work best for me.
Biggest issue so far is amazon being kinda shady about the prime accounts, im guessing u shouldn't sign up for more than one at a time, as multiple accounts get you flagged.
When u sign up for a new amazon account do you use your actual name and address from the billing every time? Im wondering if i got flagged cause i sign up under a different name than the credit card i use. Once i was locked out of 2 accounts, and somehow got them to reopen them, but i guess i cant re-sign up for a free prime account until the current one expires completely. (more of a theory than a question) Its got me leaning twoards doing Free Shipping without mention of 2 day shipping.
I know you said you keep a file for your tax records.... my question is.. did you fill out a state tax table for ebay? that way when amazon charges you tax on an item because of its shipping destination, the ebay buyer foots the bill for that too? ive been thinking about doing this because the tax changes the margins... but i dont wanna collect taxes unless i go LLC with this thing.
Anyway some other issues to watch out for that ive come across if you are doing this are...
1. Amazons deal of the day is random, if the list an item you have listed, you ARE GOING TO SELL! however the price you have up will usually always be less than theirs because it just went on sale... or 2, it will go out of stock.
2. As mentioned before Taxes are added to some shipping destinations, including KENTUCKY , where the Global Shipping Center is.... if you are shipping globally through ebay, this will change your projected margins depending on the destination.
3. Make sure you arent shipping to Alaska, hawaii, or any of the other US territories such as the US Virgin Islands... shipping is high as phuuuuck to these places, and if ur not paying attention during listing some orders will come through without extra shipping added, and without the destination being Ebays Global Shipping Program.
Again, thanx Lewy2k thanx for planting the seed that helped this tree of knowledge sprout some leaves for all of us.
