GWMT - what am I missing?

When I look under GWMT, for a particular search term I had 218 impressions for the week (I put in U.S. searches only and for desktop).
For that search term I?m ranked at 144 for U.S. desktop.

There is only 700 searches a week total for that search term.

How is this possible? What am I missing?

The reason I ask is that it is a small, new site and my click through rate is being destroyed.

The monthly search volume is only an average estimate, so the term might have more traffic during a peak season. If you're ranked #144 i'm surprised you're getting any impressions at all.

If you rank in Google Image search, you're also getting impressions. Often the first 4 images are shown in the regular (non-image) search results. That might be the reason! I've seen it happen to my own site as well

hmmm, kind of interesting how you got so many impressions at that rank. Though, I am sure Google knows a average CTR for ranking positions, I doubt that the CTR will effect your ranking in the future.
