I think you got those mixed up...

I bet most of them use mainly PBN for rankings, even build each network per high paying client...then add other normal stuff like socials/web2.0/guest posts just for fancy reports. Wiki dead links technique is quite public now, if you don't know what you are doing you will be wasting your time.
