Let's quit Smoking

The moment you read this, stand up and say loudly: FUCK THIS SHIT and throw them through window. And never take it ever again. No chocolate, peanuts, e-cigs and other bullshit. Simple as that. Thank me later.

I quit around 7 years ago after being a chronic smoker (at least 2-3 packs a day) for 7 years prior to that. I have adjusted to it and do not need it anymore. In fact, I either cannot stand cigarette smoke easily when someone smokes near me (my family members do not smoke and so, it helps) or at times feel a slight temptation to smoke the cigarette when smelling it though I resist it. The only thing that cigarette smoke is that is sort of reduces the headaches which most of us IMers face by sitting in front of our computers day in and out. But the bad affects are a lot more. So, it is better to quit ASAP. Just leave it and abstain from smokers for a few days. I tried thrice to leave smoking. I could not do so in the first two attempts as I was with my friends but I managed to quite smoking in my third attempt when I was with my family.

Hey man you should consider smoking weed.

lol that was funny , I have tried all kind of drugs lol , I am blessed to not do drugs anymore and someone advices me to smoke weed , ty mate , made my day lol

Been smoked from Junior high school, then i quit after i got health issue when i was in college, doc said it is light bronchitis, lol

I believe its all about mental or psychological issue, i had a fear that the bronchitis would change my life if i never quit smoking, cannot to do sports, etc. So Fear helped me a lot

Fill your time with some new activities, a little bit more extreme will be better :). It is hard to break the habit, but adrenaline and some new high activities will be a good combination to block your mind from smoking.

I was a smoker for upwards of 35 years.
In 2012 I switched to vaping.

The first couple of weeks I would grab the occasional half a smoke until I found my "flavor profile" in e cig juices. That's a big challenge to start.. some folks just prefer the tobacco flavors but there are fruits, candies, beverage, bakery.. and some really unique flavors (do not let anyone talk you into the crab flavor juice - egad!)

I thought I would be a all menthol, all the time flavor vaper but it turns out, I prefer the bakery and some of the coffee flavors.
I do vape like a dragon.. using mostly 12 mg nicotine juices.. I have some no nic juices too for when I've had enough nic but just want a flavor to make big billowy clouds.

I chose my gear by the "pretty" factor and as it turns out I ended up with a cigar size, rainbow colored e-cig with replaceable parts for the juice tanks. It's not nearly as expensive as cigs and I no longer have that raspy voice and smokers hack - and I smell so much better.

there's a huge e-cig forum that has all the info and community support you'd ever want. Just hunt for e cigarette forum..

:lmao: but what about the garlic & onion flavoring?

That's awesome. Very happy for you. You've been smoking longer than I've been alive. I was a pack a day for 5 years and have tried everything in my power to get my parents to make the switch since it has worked so well for me.

I've even let them have a few of my starter pens and multiple different flavorings I had laying around. They say "I've been smoking 30 years, you smoked five~what do you know?". They try it and there is always something wrong with it to them... It burns their throat, it dies too fast or it's awkward to smoke. I'm going to show them this entire thread next time I see them. Worth a try I suppose.

I always hated the fumes from cigarattes and never tried or used one up.
Even though many, many people wanted me to light one up (a subject matter, not a person), but always managed to refuse.
I wish I could lose some eating and computer gaming habbits.

Hi, to quit smoking is quite difficult but there are some ways to do it. You may have candies or chocolates when you feel like smoking. Another device too may help like e-cigarettes:)

my father died like 3 months a go because of this (age 48 YO )
he already quit smoking in 95 was just like most of you
smoking like one/tow packs a day
when he was young

i remember the last 2 months of his life
we toked him to a private medical clinic costs like (400Eur/day) & an advance of 5k eur
i'm saying this cos you have to know what is actually waiting for you
my dads life worth every penny spent in his Medical condition

he was barely breathing with 24/24 of Oxygen & all medical care
i also remember he couldn't sleep
you just feel helpless cos there is nothing they can do for him
except changing his lung & where the hell u gonna find a lung in 60 days
this is not like Heart transplantation
its Oxygen you need it every second & there no machine can do the job of your organic lung

Why u have to be such a fukin downer? does this mean that we all who smoke/smoked are just gonna die a painful death? should we just quitt and kill ourselfs not to be a financial burden to our family 20 yrs later?
You are gonna tip toe tru life beeng healthy and acting all superiour cuz u aint smoking and r eating ur veggies?
On the bright side i smoked for 14 years, quitt cold turkey 3 months ago, replaced smoking with drinking water ( 6L/day )
I used to drink only coca cola and smoking aprox 1 pack/day, 2 in on weekend days and 3 when drinkin. Now i dont smoke and drink just water
What i can tell u that life is a lot more boring without smoking, you will find soo many excuses to smoke but u need to not give into temptation.
Craving will last for a "while" i have friends who still have cravings after years, i also still have them.
U just got to accept it , look at it like a 3rd arm, testicle or what ever, ignore it long enough and it will go away.
Other "Side effects" are that i am sweating alot + i get aggressive sometimes
My PRO tip is not to wait for the perfect moment to quitt cuz that aint never gonna come, u will allwayz find a reason why to smoke.
Good luck

Quit smoking more than a year ago. Quit cold turkey and never looked back. Its just all in your mind.

i stopped with snus frost look it up. Now I just vape 6mg . I started with 18mg. I really need nicotine or I cant work at all.

this thread was just a coincidence
i don't usually surf this section

my message was just to show the consensus of smoking to people who don't make any effort to quit & new smokers

smoking is effecting your lung immune system by time
and u get likely sick with deadly weak viruses like TB

I say weak cos they only hit 1/10 persons

and guess what 90% of these 1/10 are smokers ...

do your friends smoke as well? if so that makes it super hard to quit if you are always around them

I use an RDA (Rebuildable Drip Atomizer) vaporizer and it works well for me. Keeps the nic cravings away and leaves a nice fruity taste in my mouth. They're a little tricky at first to build safely but there are tons of people on forums that are willing to point you in the right direction.

Vaping is also cheaper long term if you're using an RDA. It can be a little steep of an initial investment if your shopping at your local vape shop though. Buy online for better prices. If you want to cut costs even further, buy clones of the equipment on popular online stores. But be sure to research your product well or you may end up with a lemon!

Read the book about quitting smoking by a guy named Alan Carr. I was smoking about the same for 5 years and quit immediately after reading it!

Its been like 2-3 years that I constantly smoke, around 2-3 packs a day , managed to quit that shit for 1 month and started it again like 2 weeks ago , anyone from you guys managed to quit smoking? If yes I would like to know about any strategy or method that worked towards permanently quiting smoking , this shit is killing me , I lost like 6 kgs this year , used to go to gym and gave up , I really need to something about my physical condition which is getting worse and worse .

Post only if you got something related to the problem and it worked for you , thank you .
My cousin has been smoking for about 8 years, he got a Vape and literally quit for 4 months and said he will never go back to cigs... Get a vape lol, not one of those E-cigs, but a actually good quality vape :), that can help you a bit. Good luck! I hate when I see people smoking.

Apologies if it's mentioned in the thread before but what worked perfectly for me is hypnotherapy.

I was a smoker for 10 years before I got fed up with it. It's expensive, bad for my health and not a good example to my daughters.

Went in, got hypnotized, the guy rerouted some habits and voila! I'm a 'non-smoker', as he puts it. Because if you say you quit, that's an affirmation of your addiction ;-)

Never touched or thought of a sigaret in the same way ever since. Hope it helps someone!

I managed to quit smoking. Its fuc*ing hard, there is no question about that.
I think the reason its so hard is because you always think that you like it, then you convince yourself out of giving up - stating that you dont really want to and that if you really did want to, you could.

What helped me to give up was realizing this - I sort of starting thinking of smoking as a trick that the "drug" is playing on you - each time you smoke and put nicotine into your body and that nicotine convinces your brain that you like smoking and as soon as that nicotine level starts going down you feel like you want another cigarette.

That really gave me the motivation to stop smoking because I didn't like being tricked, if that makes sense.

Also when I finally gave up I didnt get rid of my cigarettes - I kept them with me because I always felt like the finality of giving up was really scary so I told myself that I had the cigarettes and that I could smoke if I wanted but I was chosing not to.

Anyway, good luck with giving up!!

I quit smoking actual cigs for a year with vaping. Feel much much better.
