hekke's Amazon Affiliate Journey

Keep up the good work Hekke. I'm getting back into amazon myself and this has been a breath of fresh air. Very motivating.
I'm trying to get some writers to follow the format you provided. I've been following your journey, thanks again for all the info.
I'm sure good things will come your way...you deserve it. Take care.
This right here made my day! Thank you for following! :)

one question, I am currently using click bank and not many people buy as CB pages look shitty and spammy. I am thinking of shifting to Amazon but I am not sure yet because the site is fairly new with not much traffic. My initial plan was to go with click bank and when i start to get organic traffic i will switch to Amazon but not getting any sales from CB is really de-motivating So what do you suggest?
Stick with your original plan. Maybe you got time to manage another site, that is Amazon based, on the side. I don't think it would be a good move to switch without even giving CB a fair chance, it is not like Amazon will make you more money if you don't got any traffic.

I do however think that it is good to have multiple monetization methods on your site. Maybe there are products for your niche on Amazon that you can promote as well? Best of luck! I am looking to get into CB later on, haven't even tried it yet, heh.

You said you link out from 50 Web 2.0s to the site at the start. Are these 50 Web 2.0s created for each site or do you link out to multiple money sites on them?

I personally have 1 web 2.0 property per site. Although, as you can see in my text below - I outsource this part.

My link building strategy
Ok, so first off, I do not think that I am some "SEO guru" that knows the ins and outs of off-page SEO. Actually, I do not have a PBN to back my money sites up at all. I usually just target really easy competition niches. Also, when you are up against sites with a handful of links, you do not really need a strong PBN to back you up.

Let's jump right into it!

During the first month I don't build any links - at all actually. The first month I just focus on expanding the site, it wouldn't make sense if people were backlinking to my site without it having any content and it would appear unnatural if people would backlink to a completely new site, just like that.

I try to publish 1-2 articles per day the first month which will result in 30-60 published articles by the end of the month. This is usually a good base for authority sites. For smaller niche sites it can be enough with 10-20 articles. Also, in this stage it would be good if you built some web 2.0 properties with a few articles each and let them sit and get some age. This is only necessary if you're doing your web 2.0 properties by yourself. Guides of this could be found somewhere on this forum! :)

After the first month or so I start to build some banklinks. This is the point where I would start to point some web 2.0's to my root domain (mysite.com) and some to my inner pages (mysite.com/inner-page-1, mysite.com/inner-page-2, etc). Personally, I am outsourcing this process by a service here on BHW, it is by 7thAmigo and I have heard nothing but good things about his services.

P.S. I am not affiliated with him nor any other service mentioned in this thread, so please don't start assuming something just because I share which service I use. Let's continue!

During the first month I plan to publish a paid press release about the sites, actually, this is something that I've never done before but I've got this tip so many times now that I think that this is something I really should try. And by paid press release I don't mean those that you get from Fiverr for 5 bucks, I mean those that cost maybe 50-100 bucks. This might seem like a big investment for a small return but I've heard some great success stories so I think it is worth a try.

To diversify my backlink profile I will make sure to put in some blog comments on related blogs, export an article into a .pdf and submit it on a few pdf sharing sites and make a couple of forum links. This is something that I've done before and even though these might not pass the most juice or are do-follow links I still get some diversification in my backlink profile - it appears natural to Google.

After this process, I pause my backlinking process. I want to see where my site lands in the SERPs with this backlinking base. When I see where they land (after a few weeks) and I can analyze the ranking and from there understand how much effort I need to put in. In my case, this will pretty much be the only backlinking that is needed to get on first page - but I want to get to the first spot and I want to build a name for myself in the niche I am in. I will do some outreach to blogs & websites related to my niche and try to get a few guest posts as well.

I am sure that you would need much stronger backlinks if you were in a niche with much competition. This is something I avoid as I don't have a hard time finding low comp. niches that nobody is targeting.

Until next time,
hekke

Good luck on your journey mate!
Really got inspired by this :)

Thanks for the kind words! This forum is the best guide to IM in my opinion. You can learn almost every method there is and make great connections that can affect you greatly. Just make sure to not get stuck reading and take action, you won't earn shit if you don't take action.

Best of luck! :)

I have just two questions:

1. How do u find those low competition niches, do u use any particular method when searching? I know u look for products that are $100+ , but how u will know that those products have low comp. (or u thought low comp on keywords)

2. I've heard that Amazon product's commissions are different depending on product's category. So which products have the highest commission and are worth promoting?

Sorry if u already answered these questions, but I didn't find any related answers.

Anyway your journey is awesome. Keep up the good work ;)

1. I've chosen a really broad niche where I've found plenty of great sub-niches. Some of these niches get quiet some searches while having forum threads ranking on first page for it. I have my niche-folder that I go through later when I want to assign myself more work. Currently not needed though.

2. Seems like it is only electronics, headphones and kindles that are capped to 4-6% that is an actual product category. The rest is just gift cards & groceries. Checkout their advertising fee page for more information.

The advertising fee could make a huge difference in terms of earnings - never thought about it actually as I don't promote any of the products mentioned on that page. Instead of getting $8 for a $100 product you get $4, it would be harder to reach my goal as I would have to sell $2500 worth of products instead of $1250 worth of products.

okay so I have created a website, it is related to health niche. Anyways I put 5 articles on it so far now my mistake is that i did not do any research before starting and it is also a very competitive niche. So I want to ask before writing more articles, what should i do to rank them better? I am sorry I am really new to this and I am still learning. Still learning what terms like SERP means and stuff.
The only traffic I am getting is from blog comments I am posting to promote products from CB.
btw Thanks for replying, you have been really helpful

Do more research and find low-comp long tails of that competitive niche. The research part is the one of the most, if not the most, important step in the process of building a site. So take your time and don't rush it. If that niche is too competitive you might need to switch niche.

I know that I started some sites in really competitive niches that have made $100, $3 and $0.17 in 3 months. If I would work on these sites I would maybe have them make more but it is more worth it for me to focus on the ones I got currently as they are easier and I will profit much faster. Might pick them up later though, who knows?

I would suggest you to gather "keyword sets" that you'll use for articles. So let's say you want to write a review about "Best Affordable Toasters" you'd add "cheap toasters", "toasters for cheap" and so on, keywords that are related and get searches. I usually just put my competitors articles in SEMRush and gather the keywords from there.

Hopefully this reply cleared up some things! Don't hesitate to ask more questions!

Best,
hekke

Keep up the good work - you're doing great so far!
Thank you meathead! Looking forward doing business with you later this year/early next year.

I thought it was time to give an stats update & some updates on the content. The stats are from the 28th until today, which was the last time I updated this journey with stats.

From today I will start working way harder on getting more content on the sites. I've added a few articles on each sites a few days ago but that's all. I really need to pick up the pace a little so that I'll see faster results. Been caught up working out & enjoying the summer - which is great but my business is getting a small hit by it.

Tomorrow and tonight will be an big working marathon. I received my debit card today but when I was going to activate it they said that the verification code was wrong - so I need to call the customer support tomorrow about this issue.

I wish to start the link building for RED this week, so I hope to get this issue sorted out asap. Well, I will order a few best of's to each site and order review articles. I appreciate the support I've received, it is what keeps me going hard!

Until next time,

@hekke

Mate, I've recently sent you a PM regarding amazon aff sites. Would you mind checking it out and replying in your free time? :)

Thanks for helping me out, I have decided to put my CB site on halt for while and try something new by new I mean make a site with less competition. Okay lets say if my competitor has 6000-7000 back links, will it be easy to rank above him? how much time will it take?
what too do you use to check the page rank?

Okay thanks for the detailed reply on your seo strategy. It seems that you rely on keyword research primarily so that you do not have to go crazy with SEO.

It's a great strategy to go by actually and it ensures that you can get a nice return most of the time. Keep up the solid work, I'm sure your journey is helping people out.

12 visitor and 12 amazon clicks !! how you get that ,what formula you use to get 100% ctr to amazon

Well, it all depends on the quality of those 6000-700 backlinks. If they are all just spam backlinks then a few stronger links from your PBN or authority sites would totally kill it. I have had no experience in ranking above someone with that amount of backlinks so I cannot really answer. I always target low-comp niches with a few backlinks or forum threads ranking on first page.

Correct, I feel like there are too many low-comp niches with the same amount of searches and price as those high-comp niches to focus on anything else than low-comp niches. I doubt I will run out of low-comp niches before I stop having Amazon as my main focus, which will be a while.

I can earn the same amount of money with less investment, both money and time wise.

I think some of those clicks & visitors are mine to be honest. I only got 2 organic searches so I don't think that they visited 12 times and clicked on the links 12 times. Often when I insert links in my post I just click some links to be sure that they work.

UPDATE
I got 7 articles yesterday for this site. All ready to publish after I insert links and images. Now I don't think I miss any sets from my writer (set=5 articles, the usual order number of mine). I will order more articles today some that are informative to not only post articles with 5+ links in them.

UPDATE
For this site I received 5 new articles and also uploaded the 3 I got left from the set before this new one. I feel like I really need to get my debit card to work so that I can order a press release and some web 2.0 properties to start my link building campaign off. However, today I slept until 6 pm... Wow, I tried to reset my sleeping schedule but it just went downhill - as always, lol.
_________

That's pretty much it. Don't got much to do, might make a "top 5"-video of some of my lists. One of my other sites is almost making everything from 1 video that I made in 5 mins, crazy. Also, I might do a slideshow and pdf and share them on file, slideshow, pdf-sharing sites. This can make some diversification for my 50 web 2.0's that I will buy later.

Also, if you lack motivation, watch movies such as "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "The Social Network". I get really motivated/fired up when I watch such movies. Post below more suggestions of good movies that get you fired up, I am in the search for more to watch! :)

Until next time,

Do not be discouraged boy, keep working hard.

Money will roll

Hekke, I have a question and an inspirational movie "Ingenious" (2009). You can find it in IMDB but it's great for entrepreneurs.

My question is about the product comparison with tablepress. It's not responsive. How did you get round this? Did you buy the plug-in?

On my cellphone it doesn't show a few of the columns.

Tick "Horizontal scrolling on" or something like that at that particular table settings.
