I have not seen anyone post about this method before. It may be that I am the only one who knows about it.
I used this method with hostgator affiliate signups. It may or may not work with other affiliates. I'm guessing it is only going to work with them, but who knows. Try it out.
If you don't know how the hostgator affiliate program works:
It starts out at $50 a signup and goes up to $125 a signup. So, if you are getting 1 signup a day you are making $125 a day. Pretty nice income. The cool part is you can earn this money if someone simply uses one of your coupon codes. (more on this later)
First you will need to signup for their affiliate program:
Non-Referral Link: https://www.hostgator.com/affiliates
How to do this without spending a single penny or making a website:
Remember that coupon code? All we need to do is simply get people to sign up using it. It is actually pretty easy since the coupons either give 25% off their order, or they can just get their first money for $0.01. Lots of people prefer this one.
So there are two options:
A: Put in a lot of time and work building up websites, ranking them, creating social media, posting on forums, and more.
B: Snipe someone else's coupon codes.
What do you mean..snipe?
It is really simple. You search google for hostgator coupon codes..preferably ones on older forums with lots of views. You then write down all the codes you can find.
The money maker: enter these codes into your hostgator affiliate dashboard on the "manage coupon" section.
One of two things will happen. It will tell you that the code is already in use, or it will add the code to your list of coupons. If it adds the coupon..congrats you have just made money (usually).
So what is happening?
When it allows you to add a coupon code, the person who was using those has either deleted that code, or their account was deleted.
The cool part: Due to how hostgator tracks things, you can SEE how many signups that code has gotten in its lifetime. The best one I have found had around 40 commissions earned.
By simply adding that coupon code that was no longer being used to my affiliate account, I have made around $600.
Don't feel bad about sniping either. The websites that these coupon codes are listed on are basically invalid. You are making them valid again. You are actually doing a good service to all the websites that have these coupons listed, and the people searching for them.
Bonus Twist:
1. Learn how to use google search. Once you find ONE coupon that works, you should be able to find several.
2. Find all the old forum posts with your coupon code listed, make an account and bump the post saying thanks for the code and that it worked.
3. When someone signs up for your coupon you can actually see the domain name of who signed up. If that person has a poor looking website or is taking a while to build a site, try to do a /whois domain search to get their contact info and offer them website building/SEO services. Most of the time they are not private on the /whois because they just wanted to pay a penny to get their hosting.
Enjoy.
