Keyword monthly searches dropped so low. Normal?

Couldn't find any related thread where this has been mentioned so I'm creating this one now.

So long story short, I ordered a keyword.
Built a site related to that keyword.
Wrote a few articles about it.
Then I noticed just not that no matter how many times I search in on Google Keyword planner, same result appears.
From 1000+, its down to 40.

Does this really happen?

Are there keyword providers you know that sells keywords that are being searched all through?

Some keywords tend to reduce in volumes with time depending upon the trend.

Yeah, that does seem like a big drop though. You checked the obvious like typos and using the exact wording? The KW Planner does also give you search volume and some terms are definitely seasonal. Check that to see if the drop is normal.

It wouldn't hurt to get in touch with whoever you got the KW from too. That's a pretty big drop.

you ordered a keyword? you mean from adwords?

I agree with jo080711, check for any typos when you enter the keyword and make sure you used the right keyword..

By the way, did you create a site centred around and targeting only 1 keyword? If so, that sounds like you're going to have a bad case of keyword cannibalisation later on.

About typo, nope, I made sure of it back then and that I'm searching it in the right platform in Keyword planner.

Thanks for pointing out that it can be a seasonal keyword, forgot about that. Weeks after it's up to 800, then 1k again so I guess this it is fluctuating.
