Trap in bought e-mail list

Dear people,

A few weeks ago I bought a list of relevant e-mail adresses. A friend told me it could be possible someone put in e-mailaddresses to the list to catch people who 'scrape/steal' these lists. Now I don't want to get in unnecessary problematic situations. So my question to you people is, how I can filter these adresses out of my list? I read something about the possibility of filtering inactive e-mailadresses on this forum. Does somebody have experience with this? Or did somebody use alternative options to filter these traps? An important note is that I don't use these adresses for spam but to really give them valuable information.

Check Fiverr for email validation services, for 5 bucks you're able to clean your list.

I understand that concern. Something I had not thought about re email lists.

One way to mitigate the risk is to split the list between several Fiverr chaps, or between other service marketplaces other than Fiverr. Doesn't completely eliminate the risk though.

You'll pay for it one way or another, I'm afraid, but this may help some.

I've had some clients who had really old email lists and GetResponse wouldn't accept them. Cleaned it up with this, got accepted and all good (Y)

You can verify your list by yourself and for free. I have tried a method by using a script on Openshift. I always wanted to write a tutorial about that. I will update later with more details, now I have to go to work

It ain't rocket science. They randomly stick in some UNIQUE email addresses (that belong to them of course). If they get an email to those addresses that aren't from who and within the terms they sold the list to, then you have obviously onsold the list...

Yes this is exactly what I mean. Normally they won't login very often. Or maybe only when they got an email. So maybe there is something out there to recognize when they logged in for the last time?

Furthermore. I already found an e-mailadress like this. While scanning this list I saw an address of an intellectual property service. I am reserved at the moment :sad:

Better create you email message in a way that don't directly identify you or send mail from non third world server that hide your track.
So nobody can ask you question. Just imagine if some one send coca cola/ world bank 1 million cash reward scam email, can you go and sue world bank for it?

Thank you for your response. I wanted to make a profile while browsing Tor Browser but I wasn't aloud to sign up. They give me this response: 403 Forbidden, nginx/1.4.6 (Ubuntu). In their anti-spam policy is stated: verify purchased lists (whether they are opt-in or not) may not be used. Is there an other anonymous way to sign up? And what do you know about the strictness of Kickbox?

Many other email verifiers don't do what I want from them. In a blog article of Maschape ''list of 25 email validation apis'' is perfectly stated what I want them to do. ''Kickbox determines if an email address is not only valid, but associated with an actual user.'' Are the other 3 also like Kickbox's api?

These types of spam traps can be challenging to remove - however, you can use a 3rd party email verification service (such as BriteVerify) to thoroughly clean your list. The platform you decide to send your purchased list from should also clean your list too - that's something Clickback does for all their clients; remove invalid email addresses and spam traps before sending.

I have 10k email address list plus full name . I built it for 2 years. And i think the 10% is inactive. I got it from going the websites manually and copy paste email address. These are targeted 6k from linkedin and 4k on search engines.

Any list management are able to filter out gov and anti's email addresses however if you want to filter inactive email address you need to email them first and check the "opener" emails and remove the inactive and unsubscribe email addresses.

Scrape data is not safe and low conversion comparing with targeted data. Top affiliates and call centers normally buy targeted data for their email/calling campaign. targeted data has low bounce rate and they are people who signed up for the product offered. so the sales conversion rate will be more higher than scrape.

Scrape data = free and raw members
Targeted data are more likely opted in data = paid member / consumer

If you guys want the best in the industry try fresh address (safetosend) or Versium (datafinder.com). Been in the list industry for ten years and these two along with briteverify, which i saw someone else mention are the best.

i believe kickbox uses something similar to GSA verifier where they ping it...so it isnt as accurate.
