Finding a niche to promote

This must be one of the oldest questions, but I am not looking for answers to which niche makes the most.

I am looking for niches that don't look commercial on the surface, but can be very well monetized through affiliate programs. Niches that may not seem like there's money to be made, but there is. And niches that spawn a TON of keywords. And niches that don't rely on Adsense but rather on affiliate program.

I have resources that don't mix well with Adsense (if I get caught) so I need to go the affiliate way with these. And while at it I thought I would target non-commercial looking ones that can also attract a lot of natural links with the use of good content.

If I expect anyone to share I'll share first:
The one that came to my mind is "addictions" either chemical or non-chemical.

Do any of you have any ideas OR at least is there a resource I could look at to dig these out?

You have more success using Keyword Planner than getting ideas from members here. You may get a few, but they'd be far and in between lots of talk about you been lazy and all. So I'd recommend you use the free keyword research tools available. You only have to invest your time.

Thanks. Not looking for a free ride. Would gladly pay premium for an ok tool.

These tools my prove to be just the same type of thing as like going inside clickbank marketplace and then wander through the deals listed there. It's just too much. One needs a filter or a seed first.

Apparently this is where it all ends and it falls on my shoulders, no matter how much green I hand out. I kind of hoped there are some courses or manuals (paid ones) that give out more info.

This is going to get a little tedious so maybe you need a cup of coffee to get through the next few minutes of content on about to share.

I take each individual keyword and use the authority sites on the Internet, such as Wikipedia, eHow and some of the other big sites that typically rank 1, 2 and 3 when searched for most terms. As an example I would open up Wikipedia type in the keyword in the search bar and see what other related or ancillary keywords show up on that site. I grab those keywords and put them in a file. Surely if they are looked upon as possible related keywords in the authority sites I want to consider them for my own site, not to copy the authority site but rather, to take advantage of the work they've already done.

creating a pool of keywords is the least of the problem once you've found the niche. it's finding the niche. but I guess starting with a pool of top say 10.000 keywords... that could help... ok, thanks. you got me pointed to the right direction.

So use the above process - pick one and try it. How do you know the 10 you are thinking of are saturated and over done? Have you tried them? Sounds like you are just getting in your own way.

If you go through the process suggested it is a good way to uncover possible "sub niches". Angles you can attack from that aren't quite as "saturated". You'd be surprised how well you can compete in a niche just by sticking with it and trying things.

If there was a tool or "easy" way to select I doubt anyone would share it.

You want to just do SEO and affiliate products or do you want to brand yourself and create your own service? The SEO answer is above and the brand yourself is not. I brand my companies, plain and simple as spending money to make more money back. I rely on people thinking my content is controversial and laugh about it, I expect to get haters that just leech from my content. I rely on blackhats to steal my content and try to make money off it. I've gone as far as telling people flat out they can make money fof my content if they give me props up on the videos and follow my guidelines. I make adult and regular parody content. I parody games, movies, music, life, doctrines, everything. I am as rude as possible, but also as funny as well. I' not ultra famous or viral, but I live comfortably. I still work odd jobs with my main income streams so I can eat and invest.

Think on it, the major money makers aren't normal, they don't comform to this place or any place. I got told I'm shit and would never amount to anything. The nay sayers work 9-5 for peanuts while I laugh as I work 9-5 but get paid 1000x more than they do. Thy still are negative, but I don't care about them, I care for my audience.

Three questions:

1) Are your companies "doing business as" entities or legal entities?
2) What determining factors cause you to set up a new company?
3) If legal entities, what form do your companies take - Sole Proprietor, LLC, S-Corp, etc?
