Just got my domains and did a quick check. All 4 of them have decent stats and have few high quality links pointing at them so this far I'm pretty happy with the service. Now just waiting possible ranking improvements!

Yes, 301s should be good with new sites,
(thats what the original concept of 301 redirects is - say when webmasters want to rebrand or move their blog to their New url, they redirect old one to new URL so it regains most of its link juice, authority & power)
