If this was an April Fool's day joke, they really went all out to take the joke all the way.

The post seems legit.

Though really, I'd be surprised if Matt Cutts would ever be associated with selling an SEO product. I'm sure he's rich enough, as is, but who knows there are some sell outs, even in the best of the best.

I know there was the April Fool's joke recently where he supposedly left Google to work for another company. But the big difference here is that this information is coming directly from him on his Twitter/Blog.

It all seems a bit too elaborate to be a prank. It would be a good prank for us Blackhatters. But I would think it would offend some legit whitehatters who are following his blog for honest help/tips with their website. Do you think he would have a sense of humor like that?

LOL. He posted it **1** day before April fools. That's how you add reasonable doubt to a prank. If you were Matt you're not gonna think, "I need to post this on 4/1". You're gonna think, "if I post this tomorrow it's gonna be obvious as hell it's a joke". So all he did was make it a bit less obvious, but still obvious as hell that it's a joke.

Matt Cutts reputation as Mr Whitehat will be trashed if he's recommending anything related to automation now. He was so set against that style of SEO and backlinking. Is it just about the money? Even if it's a holiday joke, it's in poor taste.
