I was testing a script on bluehost and I guess it sucked up too musch of their memory, and bluehost disabled my account. ( I ran the same script on other shared hosts before and they never complain) So I deleted the script and told them I got rid of the script, after 5 hrs later bluehost fucking disabled my account.

Fuck them I went ahead and purchased VPS last night. Stay away from this damm shitty hosting company.

its bh, just cough up the dough and get urself a dedicated, you wont regret it *sigh*

I have been with BlueHost for years. They are one of the better hosting services out there. If you are running a script on a shared service that is sucking up too much resources, they have to take action to protect the other users. When using a shared service you have to play nice and be a good neighbor. If you are running something heavy duty then dedicated is the way to go.

I have also had great service from JaguarPC.

Same problem with me also. Bluehost never mension this in term and condition. please do not buy this share hosting.

Bluehost is one of the very worst hosting companies on the internet. Read about my nightmare with http://inetintegrity.com/weblog/?p=1.

Very well said crazypenguin.

Bluehost probably gets hundreds if not thousands of signups from complete noobs with the dreams of making a fortune on the net, but only to use up fraction of the bandwidth and letting their website gather cobwebs and letting their domain to expire after one year. But those that persevere will soon create multiple sites and soon have to find a better webhosting service because Bluehost frowns upon you if you try to do anything useful

Yeah it does kind of suck, i think my ecommerce site is failing because of the bad response times, they clearly oversold...:(

So far I've had decent experience with bluehost...of course I don't have any memory sucking script running.

I know that they use imgshack to store my images, so that's kind of lame they don't use their own servers for that.

Kobra could you give us a link to your website being hosted by Bluehost?

BTW: I wasn't running any memory sucking scripts on my accounts when I was with Bluehost. I have run the same software on many other servers with no problems. Bluehost has been the only one which could not run the software.

Anyone have any host recommendations for either starter dedicated or VPS?

Actually any good recommendations for serious dedicated/vps plans would be great thanks...

We are looking to get about 1000 domains up and running on one.

I have had good experiences with http://steadfast.net/.

Wow! 1000 domains? What kind of content? Static? Dynamic?

You might want to check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com/.

Lots of both static and dynamic, squeeze pages, video+bans scripts, then throwin subs on em later with ip based cloaking + redirects.

Cheers!

Hmmm.. Kind of odd.

I host several fairly massive sites with BlueHost and have never had an issue. I actually find them to be one of the best hosts out there.

I've got sites with them that see over 400,000 hits a month without any down-time whatsoever.

I also don't run any server intensive scripts from there though.

I'm going to agree with some of the others before me here. If you are planning to run heavy-duty scripts, purchase a dedicated/VPS.

I own a few myself for some of my more evil black hat endevours :D

bluehost never used them.
