seo "companies" that dont do shit

I have posted something similar before but this time i have done a thorough investigation and have evidence to prove it.

this is a combination of a rant and me needing some advice.

there are certain "seo companies" that are ranking for seo services [city]
they do a good job for their own sites and rank high.
but for their clients, they don't do SHIT. how do I know this? easy. most of these "seo companies" will leave a footer in every client's site with their url. so I have been doing an investigation. ahrefs the seo company's url >>> Find the seo company's clients >>> see if they are ranking.
none of these clients are ranking. either they have no backlinks, or their backlinks are complete garbage (directories? are you kidding me?)

Now the reason they dont do a good job with client's sites is because that's what's in the seo company's best interest. If they do a good job, they will have to charge a lot and they won't get many clients. most people are stupid and think it's better to pay $800 a month for SEO that doesn't work vs. $1500 a month for SEO that does work. they would rather waste a year with a retarded SEO and miss a year's worth of income, vs. paying up and seeing good results. so these seo companies are kind of like walmart, they sell cheap garbage, and they sell a lot.

I dont know how much money these seo companies make but i am jealous of them. I repeat: I am jealous. I do get a lot of requests for quotes and since I am ethical and want to do a good job, I will give them a realistic quote. but then I lose them to the cheaper services. I am poor because I have been too ethical.

so i am thinking of copying this model. I will do $500 a month and I won't do shit. i will waste a year of their time. $500x12 = $6000 a year. 20 clients a year = $120,000 a year. $120k for adding their site to some directories which takes 10 minutes.

What do you guys think? am I mistaken? if anyone has any experience (yourself or through roommates or friends) in this regard, I would love to hear it.

Until the copy their model -> F#CK THAT SHIT MAN. Why are you going to steal from people?

Provide them with RESULTS and watch them stay loyal to you. These CLOWNS don't know what the F#CK they're doing, which is why we step in and clean up the mess. Problem is most of these providers are too fucking greedy, honestly. They want 80-90% profit margins because their clients cancel after 3 months -> the morons don't realize if you IMPROVE THE QUALITY and accept lower margins, you're building sustainable income at an exponential rate AND helping people GROW THEIR BUSINESSES. LOL

Some of these people are lazy and pathetic though, they'll sit there and copy what others do but HALF ASSED and claim it doesn't work. Then there are those that work their asses off to provide their clients with a service to be proud of and to those of you who fall into this category -> I have the highest amount of respect for you.

If you decide to start doing what the shitty SEO companies do, what would be the distinction between you and them? It's better to remain ethical and build a good reputation for yourself/your company. That said, if you are all about the money, then follow the path you are considering.

Separate yourself from those companies and charge for your time adequately. I mean, this thread is axiomatic. In every niche (especially SEO) there are shitty companies that screw things up for the REAL providers of a service. The key is to not focus on them and RANK their sites like you know you can.

I would read taktical's thread again.. It all seriousness, before I dove into this full time I actually surveyed 100 business from a 1 man shop to 75 man shop, mainly in the services category, plumbing etc...

I asked them if you do seo in house or not. 50% said yes in house, I asked what do they do? Most replied the staff does that seo stuff. I then asked what do you pay or would pay for seo, the most common number was $300 or so. Ok,,, do you know what you get for $300 or would expect for $300,, no not really. This was 3 1/2 years ago, but the lesson is, if it's under $300 a month there literally is no expectation of anything. I'm in it for the long run so my prices are higher and I've had no problems. I've seem some seo companies advertise the "A" brand then offer the discount ghetto package under a different name.

If you go the cheap route, in most cases will keep a client for 3 months untill the next guy comes along offering something cheaper and way more unrealistic. Business owners are getting smarter and more educated about seo, internet marketing in general.

So you said $500 x 12 = $12,000/month.

I think you might be better of finding 1 company a month and charge them $9000/month, and spend about 1/hr day for SEO. bigger fish, but high reward.

As a small business owner not everyone needs to be ranked at #1 to do business. I can see the benefits of being #1, but it wouldn't automatically boost up what we make. We were ranked #1-2 for about a year and it brought in about $20k extra for the year. I did it myself though. But $1500x12 months=$18k. So it wouldn't benefit us like a much larger company. To those SEO places charging a lot and doing nothing, well that's why I stopped looking at services here. A bunch of garbage.

I would still keep going the ethical route, as over time your client list will become larger and more stable. And you won't have to undercut pricing, which is the sure sign of a failing company.

Done this back in the day, called TONS of shitty ranked companies... 99.99% are SO lazy and stupid that they don't care. They are buying SEO because they "have to" or their boss made them... and the owners are too busy making money to stop and think that better SEO would matter. These people essentially deserve what they got.

Its easier finding people LOOKING for a new company rather than trying to convince some office jockey who can barely use Google that he is wasting money.

See, you are both right and wrong.

Right: You should take advantage, make your money, and try to be the lowest bidder to win the client. It could lead to their friends purchasing from you.

Wrong: Taking advantage of someone who is looking for the cheaper option is not a good business model. You will end up wasting your time and missing the big fish. Remember, it is all about the numbers. The more people you reach, the better your profit will be. Explaining to an intelligent businessman why they need your service one time for the higher price will work wonders instead of convincing the little fish five times after you explain it them thoroughly.

I agree with you! Not just for local niches, but also for e-commerce SEO lol.

But, we must consider something:
- the webdesign companies and not the good seo companies add their footprint on the bottom
- seo companies with fake portfolio looks like this (self promoters)
- newbies in seo that want to make fast money doing this (and mt point is - they loose)

Maybe 99% of the seo companies world wide are fake! The reviews/testimonials on their sites are 99% fake (self made).

And fact: Today is very hard (impossible sometime) to guarantee ranking excepting churn and burn schemes, which ranks for short period.
If you prefer to lie for money (or at least don't say the true) - consider :santaclau.
If you are good man keep telling the true. One day everybody will understand the true and the rules will be changed again - consider :angel01:.
