Overwhelmed newbie looking for advice

Hey guys !
ive been lurking BHW for a while and actually i have no idea how i discovered this site but im so greatful i did ! but im so overwhelmed by the information here that i dont know where to start .
i did alot of general reading here and it seems like i cant connect all the subjects without help ! . so i thought ill make a plan for the next 6 months to actually sit down and study for 1 hour a day since im working for living 10 hours a day and i dont have alot of free time , im trying to build myself a syllabus to get myself to a point that ill start earning from affiliate marketing .
im very serious about it and i am willing to put the time and the hard work to be successful at it so PLEASE guys help me out here ! too much methods and so much information got me so confused that im sitting everyday reading opening 15 tabs on my browser and losing my focus ...
so what do you think i should do for the next 6 month how would i devide it for the best possible outcome ? i know i need to learn seo , wordpress , content writing etc ...

Stop lurking, and start doing. Pick one thing and start to learn it, you don't have to learn everything, that's why services exist. Do you think everyone is going to reply to this thread with the same answer? You won't have a better idea of what to do after those answers either.

There's a thousand ways to make money online. When i first joined this forum it got the gears turning, but i seriously had to stop reading shit here everyday, and that's when i actually was able to get focused and make money. Filter everything else out and focus on the thing you pick. Master skill sets one at a time, and your skills will make you money.

I agree with back2basics, the best way to learn is by doing, just take action, only learn something new when you get stuck.

I would start with a niche website. It will probably not make you any money, but just think of it as the cost of learning.

Do keyword research
Pick a niche
buy a domain
buy hosting
set up wordpress
set up your website, add content, learn on page seo
set up a blog network, learn how to build a pbn
track your rankings

I too lurked here for a long time before I started posting. I actually spent a LOT (way too much) time in the downloads section looking for the magic bullet, the secret, the key, that one great method that I could take and run with to make a decent income online.

But after I read each one I thought "hmm, I'm not too sure if that will work, I'll go back to the downloads section and find something else".

It wasn't until I actually started "doing" that I got anywhere and it didn't come from a method in the downloads section.

There are a lot of "method" threads in here and they're actually pretty good. My advice is to pick one and try it - actually do the method and run with it. It is the best and fastest way of learning and it will set you on a path that will lead you to new things.

Awesome ! im so happy to see that people were in the same situation like me and overcomed it .
so ill just pick a method , check what i need to know about this specific method ill try to learn it by myself to reduce expenses and if it will be too hard ill use services !
so i guess taking action and learning what to do to make a praticular method to work is the key .

When I was 14, I discovered sharecash, I thought, damn, making money by people downloading your files, genius. I made my OWN video "How to jailbreak PS3 3.54 CFW, I got 15K views the 2nd day, and I had made around 90$, I was shocked! I started to make different channels and made the same. After 5 days or so, 7 people had copied my video and made money of my video, I made around 300$ before I found another niche.

Hope I gave you a little motivation to just pick a niche and stop reading

OP. I'm in the similar boat, joining only a month or two before you. With regular life responsibilities, it has been a bit of a slog to take the limited time available to do some focused learning.

I would modify the advice you are receiving here slightly. Choose and focus on one method, map out all the pieces you need to learn enough to competently execute, then do it.

One of the problems is that all the pieces we need to know are rarely covered in sufficient detail in any one thread, and a whole thread contains much extraneous text (e.g. "Thank you" posts vs clicking on the Thanks button). I suggest using a tool like a mindmapper (several free for download) to help you organize the pieces. The advantage of this tool over, say, a spreadsheet or word doc is that you can more easily add content and dynamically rearrange their relationships. Ideas and details come up in any place down a thread and a map like this makes it far easier to organize.

Before choosing a method, think a little about the big picture. For instance: What do you want to do long term, and how will this fit that goal? What is the process that you need to fill out. This link will help you on the parts to focus on and related questions you need to be asking:

Reading is essential too. Both theory and practice. What they're trying to tell you is don't just read, try too. You can experiment lots with free hosts, tools and stuff before you invest your first dollar.

One of the best replies I've seen on BHW forum so far. I'm caught myself (like every n00b) in endless reading limbo. I've very little time to spare for anything more than reading. Only came across this website less than a week ago. However, I think every owner of a business with online presence, should at least have basic knowledge of SEO and online/social marketing.

Saying so, I might give it a shot and see if I can make any money out of this.

Most of the people in this forum have the same problem as you.. they consume a lot of information, but they never do anything with it. What I'd suggest you to do is take one method/system that interests you and you have read the most about it.. and start doing something with it. I'm fairly sure if that method is not some one time glitch abuse thing, it will make money and if it won't then it's not method's fault, but yours.. try harder. Once you earn your first pennies/dollars you WILL be hooked and that awesome feeling will push you further.

I won't tell you what you should try first.. adsense/amazon/cpa etc.. but what I'll tell you is sit down and write down stuff that you know, place them in a order.. easiest things up there and more difficult/unknown ones down and just make your choice After that's done, go find yourself a product/whatever you are going to promote and continue with your plan. I strongly suggest that you find yourself fairly easy niches. Keep in mind.. even super strange and unknown niches can bring you big moneiz.. don't go after weight loss products or whatever like that if you don't have time and/or money to spend.

Reading stuff is not bad but just reading and not working on it practically will end up with nothing in terms of $$$. Just like r3dr00m said, plan, organize, and count every hour you work online in terms of money.

Weight loss is a purest evergreen niche which means there are guys playing who have budgets like $100,000+ a month. It's super difficult niche + it's saturated as well.. which means if you don't have enough money or backlinking power your site won't see the first page. There are rare situations when it can happen, but as I said it's rare. Obviously it depends on your weight loss keywords as well.. there are easier keywords that you can use and there are keywords that get millions of searches and are super difficult.

I'm not saying keep away from weight loss niche, but if you are a beginner and you are not sure what you are doing.. don't go there or you will lose time and money.

I know people who have done and I have personally done weight loss and I can say nothing is impossible, but you need good amount of money to compete with those big guys.

DONT get dissapointed if you fail. Just learn from it and continue what you have chosen to do.
Look for longtail keywords - easier to rank and googles loves those keywords.

What Diplomat said, but I would add that in my research it is the most common "example" brought up in various "methods" threads. You can bet all the noobs are chasing that "niche".

If I were to go down that path, I'd be rather selective as to a sub-niche, and check out the competition for my method to make a judgement on my ability to compete with them (there will always be competition, just how high have they set the bar, so to speak). Competitive analysis is one of the competencies I think one needs.
