It sure will if you are consistent, the content is unique and you have some KW optimization in the process. I would not "key" on keywords but rather write in a normal tone... I would probably increase the content up to 100 words or so, even if you had to lower the amount of posts daily, but a daily news updated site can do well.

I would not mind looking at your site for you and giving you some specific advice on that sort of thing for free. I have had sites like that, and sold them as they were too much for me, and I know they can be nice little money makers.

Guys, i mean if it ll help for ranking my static pages? Static pages have in-page SEO of course. I dont need ranking for news pages, i want to post news just for show Google than my website not die.

And another question: what more important new content every day or every day linkbuilding (1-3 backlinks from normal website like web2.0, guestpost....with naked link). YES need do it together for good result but if need choose something ONE? What u ll choose TEXT or BACKLINKS?

So consistently posting lets say 5-10, 200-300 word news articles a day can be as good as posting 500-800 word articles every other day?

I have a news site also, but i keep losing confidence with it because its difficult to keep churning out 500+ word articles. Alot of news storys dont need 500+ words. I usually try to add fun facts about the news topic to bump up the word count.

Obviously my main worry is being punished by google for thin content.

If you look at game news sites, 100-200 word range post are used a lot.

You would be surprised how fast you can build up ranking with a lot of shorter articles on a site... I used to do very well with mine but the pressure to pound out unique content always in the back of my head. I didn't care for that aspect.

Now, if you were to put up that many 500 - 800 word articles you would do even better but all you need are a few hundred words per article, some 10 - 20 articles a day and you'll end up with pages that rank right away and some that stay ranked for lots of KWs over time.

With all the differing advice here, isn't the point really to have a variety of lengths to look "normal" to google? Seems that 20-30 words might be thin, but IDK.
