Shit! This method is working for me

$500 is quite low to be honest, even if they're maybe 5 page websites. Are you doing everything by yourself? How much of 15k is net profit?
No doubt this method works if it's tergeted to wealthy clients with shitty websites.

Sounds like he is doing everything himself which would make it all profit (minus his time). If he was able to do 1-2 websites per day he has probably invested two months into this process and grossed $7500 per month average. Assuming he is able to sell some recurring services (hosting, edits, content, SEO, etc.) it should be a nice and stable business in less than 6 months. I would imagine at this rate he won't be designing many websites in 6-12 months and just doing updates which can easily be outsourced to someone else.

Great business model, great work ethic!

This is a good deal as he is just investing his time which is giving him good return, there is always a potential in local market. We just have to find right thing to offer.

Good Job, you can even upsell them to a monthly service which will bring even more income consistently.

After a month or so testing out this method, this shit just work.

I've done researched on my local businesses and created the website for them.

I've seen many businesses with crappy websites, but they pay for it.

After researching and make note of the bad things of their websites, I create a new on for them (I've created first hand even I don't know they get it or not).

Using my mouth to convince and talk about how wonderful my newly created website compare to their current one. UX and UI is way way better than their current one.

Because I've created the complete website for them and show them the finished one how their new website looks and feels, plus explaining the benefit and how could this newly created give them, I just got more shit now.

There is many thing involve; but it works.

I've used my own theme framework so that it's easy and fast to create the unique website for each business.

I've met with 50 business owners the following month; the respond for confirmation is 31; which others not yet decided. Zero Deny!

Currently, I get my 31st payment which is sum up for 15K.

Yes, this shit works!
Nice! I suggest you get them to buy some other type of hosting with your referral link for a passive income

Good job OP. However the price is low. If it is quality work you can charge 2k+ per. I charge at least 1.5k for any site or I don't do it.

So every time you target a business owner you first remake his website and when done you get in touch with him?
Yes, that's my way plus additional tweaks.

Question, are you using a boilerplate theme for all of the sites or are you choosing a custom theme? Also, do you just take content/photos from their current website and put it on the one you made before showing it to them? Nice outside the box method you have there. :)
I use my own custom boilerplate theme/framework. And, yes, I take content/photos from their current website plus adding additional content that I think it fits their business well.

Local business rocks!!...Well done OP!..how u reach ur client? By calling them one by one? There's a hard part to meet, talk and tell them to use our service...btw scale up OP!
I email them first, and follow up by text messaging, and follow up by phone call. The last part is to meet them in person.
This is the hardest part but with some tricks, it's good to go.

Nice job. Congratulations, what about the hosting, u hook them up in shared hosting?
Mostly, these business owners don't know much about this part. Therefore, I don't want to flood them with this kind of things. But, I'll upsell them when the time's right.

Hi! I've thought about this too as I find many crappy sites in my hometown.
Just some questions:

Do you buy wordpress own wordpress themes and customize them to their needs, or do you code them all?
In that case, if you buy wordpress themes: does it work well?

Do you update the website for them for a specific amount of money/month or something?
Because I thought of this idea and that would make some more cash in month.

Thanks, looking for your reply.
Code it all from scratch.
I just let them to know about small update. I don't want to flood them with more service. As mentioned above there is time to upsell them but not at the beginning.

Nice one dude. I've been thinking about building websites for local business owners too.

Few questions:

Do you keep updating the websites for the clients or do they do it themselves? (when they want any medium sized updates)
Do you manage the hosting of these websites?

Cheers
Answered above!

Well done OP, that's way over 60% conversion rate. That is crazy even though you are meeting the business owners in person.
One quick question, do you first cold call (or email/mail) and leave an appointment or you go straight through their door and pitch them?
Answered above!

Well done. What kind of businesses are you targetting? Just any small biz with websites?
Yes, small biz with website. There's reason for this!

Yes, everything by myself. 15K is my profit minus my time, electricity and internet connection.

In my country some folks are charging only about $150...
That's it.

I don't prefer this thing as most of these business owners have no idea about this kind of thingy.

Different countries, different rate.

For those who ask me in the PM, I'd answer it here instead.
I've asked a website owner if it's alright to show one of his website here. He's OK with it.
This one, I've used the theme from ThemeForest and make a bit customize and train them to add content themselves. For this website, I've spend a total of 10 hours to finish customization and training.

Asia Prime Discovery

For this rate, it's not cheap in my country. This profit is equal to my 6 years of full-time working in my country, $250/month.
There are many chance to connect with business owners here in my city/country. Therefore, it's not so hard to make a deal with them as long the services or products intrigue them.

When the time's right and the amount of websites is good, I'll upsell them with the hosting and other related services.

Thank you all for your comment.

One question,
How you show them the new website?
Do you buy a new domain and build the web there or you use some sub domain and after the owner agreed, you transfer the files to their hosting or what?

Thanks for your method, might work well in my place yet not sure how much to charge them.

I use sub domain, and after agreement made I transfer full website to theirs.

can you sell to local business without a meet and greet? i'm considering starting a local business and having to meet with hundreds of company owners doesn't sit well with me.

Awesome!

I think having the site already created is a huge game changer and results in a lot of sales that wouldn't happen otherwise.

That's depends on the location. In my country, most small biz owners do not use much email. And, they are not tech savvy, so it's hard to sell without face to face meeting. But, it's depend on where you live though.

How many you created n how many rejected? I believe it will be more productive if youcan target around 3 to 5 of the same niche business instead of just one. You can tell them only available for one and first come first serve basis. This way will create some sense of urgency to the biz owners.

Awesome way of making money. How long does it usually take you to create a website for them which looks "better" than the previous one?

Yes, small biz with website.
Congrats. Small biz are easier sold on seeing the changes, and on the speed that you can implement, so there is value in building it beforehand. Targeting becomes key, then, to minimize wasted effort.

Question 1: Perhaps it is wide open in your country, but is there a segment of businesses that you are targeting? Your example was in travel, perhaps that is it?

Question 2: How customized is what you are providing? Is it easily supported by someone else, should you decide to pursue other endeavors? If so, this is a selling feature (reduces their risk). Definitely lots of room for add on services after you made that first sale.

To Your Continued Success!
