WTF!? -- Nofollow links on a PBN -- SCAM???

I found a few PBNs that belong to an SEO agency. What I saw was SHOCKING. In all the articles where they linked to their clients they used NOFOLLOW links.

I see two possibilities:

1. They used do-follow links first and once the clients started ranking, they made the links nofollow. However, the most recent post on the PBN blog dates to November 2014 and the client is NOT ranking for the nofollow anchor text keyword.

2. They use nofollow links all the time. Either because they know something WE don't know or they are simply SCAMMING people.

Their PBN blog has over 60 posts linking to different niches. It is still indexed.

Do YOU know what's up? Are they simply DUMB, are they SCAMMING their clients or are they using some SECRET knowledge?

YOU are the expert. Tell me.

But WHY do they keep getting clients??? It's not a "forum" agency or a home office agency. They have a professional set up and around 6 or 7 branches across the country. They target BIG SHOT niches with very tough competition.

There must be some reason they are doing it. Otherwise they would have run out of business long time ago.

I need a TRUE EXPERT opinion on this. Are you an expert?

Of course I did not ask them. I used my SNEAKY NINJA techniques to sniff out their PBN. And I was SHOCKED by my discovery.

I'm a little shocked that you think that them having no follow on their sites is a bad thing.

I know why I would do it on some of my PBN sites.

Maybe you ARE the GURU I'm looking for. Tell me, why all of the 13 PBN sites belonging to the same SEO agency that I found have all external links set to nofollow.

First off, I'm no Guru by any means and I won't tell you... ask the seller if you are considering doing business, or are doing business, with them.

I'm not about to out someone's strategy on their PBN sites.

Maybe the links were on monthly plan and seller added no-follow when client cancelled the plan. Some people think that removing links from old posts would cause harm so maybe adding no-follow was better option. This is of course just a guess, but no one can no why those links are no-follow as well you cannot know if those were do follow before. In any case you don't know if its a scam or not so you shouldn't call it as a scam.

I'm not going to do business with that agency. I was doing competition analysis and found this strange pattern. I'm asking people for real ideas on what could be going on here.

Just to be clear, this SEO agency is not somebody from this forum or any forum really. It's a brick and mortar professional agency in a country. So when I say SCAM, I'm not attacking anyone personally because not a single person from this forum will come in touch with this agency EVER.

That is why we can't give you any valuable insights, we are just a bunch of struggling newbs and these secret, super-powerful high end agencies is something totally new and unfamiliar to all of us.

I don't need you to tell me why nofollow links are important. Having some nofollow links IS important.

I wanted to know if there's sense in having ALL THE FREAKING LINKS set to nofollow on a DOZEN or so PBN blogs that have over 60 posts on them EACH about unrelated niches. AND those PBNs are INDEXED.

Because you failed to understand the thread properly and focused on me not kissing ass, I'll spell it out just for YOU: I haven't hired them and I'm not going to. I was researching a niche, found a few sites, dug deeper, found a PBN that juiced the sites, found out who was the owner of the PBN and it turned out to be an SEO agency. I checked the links and all of the external links in all the 60+ posts on each PBN domain turned out to be nofollow. I was puzzled and thought I'd find some ideas here.

So far, all I've got from you and your buddy are some platitudes. You cracked me up with your "I was about to tell you" claptrap. So thanks for that, kiddo.

I UNDERSTAND that they might use those dozen or so domains to just pass nofollow links that add to the overall mix. I GET THAT.

However, when I check a niche site they did SEO for, I see a bunch of free-to-get links, nofollow links from the PBN and THAT's it. There are no do-follow links from another PBN. So the "adding nofollow links to the mix" theory DOESN'T FLY HERE.
