Quality Content, Traffic but no money

My site (in profile) is 6-8 months old and I have worked very hard getting it full of quality content and updated daily. I have decent traffic for a young site but I am making no more than pennies a day with adsense/doubleclick. Is there something else I should be trying? Am I doing something wrong or is this how it normally is?

The kind of niche you're in, Google will eventually ban you anyways. And your niche is blackhat so forget about a good CPM. Your only bet would be monetizing the site with cpa or so. Maybe get a cracked copy of a seo software and lock the download with sharecash etc to earn money.

@OP, how many visitors you have daily/monthly? How much you spend each month to keep site updated?

Totally depends on your niche, how many visitors are you getting? are you getting any clicks on ads.

If you are not getting clicks on ads, try to change positions for advertisement. Make custom and target distributions for ads (Ads code and target).

Around 20k unique visitors per month. 1,500-4k page views per day. I update the site myself as far as content. I spend money on my web dev and seo guy (not sure if he's doing a great job).

Looking at your backlink profile...NO, he is not doing anything. I am not saying that you should have 1000s of spammy links...but dude, you;re nowhere to be found. But this can also be due to the fact that you dont have a proper budget for SEO....but than again, even if you paid him $100/month he could do more compared to what he is doing now, because he didn't do shit. Maybe he is doing on-page SEO instead off-page?

Also, you have a nice site, how many new articles you upload daily?

I have. I took the square ads out and left the 3 main banners on the front page only.

eCPM anywhere from .40-1.50 it fluctuates wildly

Thank you, I have worked VERY hard on getting this site up and have done it largely by myself. I try to post at least 1-2 new pieces of content a day but it is challenging as I have a full-time job and daily rl responsibilities to manage as well

Looked over your site a bit, your content seems good, but your ads are in locations that I wouldn't pay attention to. That top banner position is so easy to look right past, and the right sided sidebar doesn't attract my attention, either (plus it requires me to actually scroll down to even potentially notice it). I think you should do one of two things (or both):

1. Move one or move ad units into the body of your content. Just a horizontal leaderboard-type ad between two paragraphs. Done.

2. Try doing some affiliate marketing with posts targeted to generate sales. You've got visitors, and you can keep their interest with your writing, so write about stuff they might want to buy. Don't pigeonhole yourself with just adsense for monetization.

1. in the theme I can place an ad before and after each story. I will look to see how putting a small add in the middle of content looks.
2. Great idea haven't thought about doing something like that. Sign up as a fanduel affiliate then write a story about playing fantasy on fanduel.

Text Ads Work 10 times better IMO.Try switching to text ads.
