How long do you sleep at night?

generally 7hours of deep sleep, then i wake up, daydream for an hour, then sleep another one. then i wake up for good.

Download smart alarm app. It gives you little tasks to solve before the alarm goes off. Another way is make deal with a buddy who also wants to wake up more early. So the one who wakes first calls the other one. This one I learned from ''simpsons'' it's the episode where Bart drinks lots of water before going to bed so he have's to pee early in the morning. Or you can get a funny alarm clock that you have to take to shower to turn it off.
''timothywcrane'' mentioned putting your phone in other side of the room. It's a good way to get you up. I just had a bad habit to go back from time to time so I went little further. I had a cup of water next to my bed and when I woke up to turn my clock off i'll throw the cup of water into my bed. I guarantee you wont go back.

I usually get four to five hours of sleep each night. I have three kids and when they are here, I have to tend to them and once they go to bed at night I have to make sure all of my work is done so I meet deadlines. Occasionally, I may get six hours of sleep, if I am able to have a super productive day and only have a little bit of work to finish after the kids go to bed.

Get involve yourself into very interesting project and you will see that you're sleeping very less.
When there is $$$$$ then how can you think about sleeping. :)
if you love IM you won't sleep more than 4 hrs.. Even in dreams you'll work...

I know exactly what you're talking about. Exciting projects make me awake even if I really want to fall asleep.

I sleep 8 hours a day. But I've had a serious case of delayed sleep syndrome my whole life so I usually get most my shit done at night hours.

During the summer this changes a bit. My natural sleep clock falls back 2-3 hours. But for some reason everytime winter comes around my DSS get's much worse. My body falls completely out of rhythm and I don't get to bed sometimes till 5am.

I sleep about 5-6 hours and sometimes 2-3 hours longer on the weekends.

7 to 8 hours, 7 is the average. To get the most out of sleep cut caffeine off later in the day, reduce alcohol & drug consumption and exercise regularly. Some people need 10 but sometimes excess sleep is an indicator of depression.

I have the same thing, and i never knew there is a name for it :)

I love sleeping, so weekends I usually grab 10 hours of sleep, although my sleep rythms have me routinely waking up after 8ish hours, which is my normal amount. Healthy lifestyle is what gets you out of bed more easily, and allows for better and deeper REM sleep so that's always positive.

Staying in bend is another matter entirely, once I stayed in bed for 18 hours straight, but that was with room service and a lovely lady lass to keep me company.

3-8 hours for me is enough. I think motivation is your best "friend" :)
10h is too much and as bad as 3h is.
Anaways, everyone is different pal. Stop asking yourself such things, accept yourself the wat you are, listen to your body. Whatever suits you. Just be your best friend and get yourself out of the internet more often to lots of fresh air and real life.
Take care.

Out of genuine curiosity, why is 10 hours just as bad as 3?

Whatever time I go to bed, I more often get up at around 4 am. Then I do some meditation...

Your body does not want to sleep 24/7. It has a rhythm, a cycle. There are chemicals involved in the brain that regulate this. You ever notice why there are certain times during the day when you can't fall asleep no matter how tired you are? And certain times of the day when you fall into a deep sleep without trying?

An example that will hopefully answer your question, try sleeping all day. You'll find after a certain amount of hours, you were in a deep sleep and you woke up by yourself without an alarm clock and you would be feeling great. Now try to keep on sleeping. You'll find that you won't really go back into that deep sleep. Any sleep you get, you'll be practically half awake, if you sleep at all. And if you do that for a few hours, you're going to now feel awful DESPITE you feeling great a few hours ago.

Sleep with your body not against it. Wake up when the body wants to wake up, not according to some alarm clock. Your body will thank you. Trust me. I haven't used an alarm clock in two years. I sleep at a certain time, I wake up BY MYSELF at a certain time. ALWAYS. Trust me.
