I have gone the legit way and by being very active only by liking tons of photos, I get around 1k per month, without following back. Adding hashtags usually only gets me a couple of likes for each photo, but rarely any follows, so yes, the only way to gain followers legitimately, is to be very active. I really like interacting with the community because I'm genuinely interested in the niche my profile refers to, so that's not a problem at all for me.
I made a new account a few hours ago and i currently have 53 followers. Im not following anyone, no shoutouts or bots, just hashtags. So if you know how you can get a decent amount of followers without botting or anything
Considering that I don't have any other social networks to kill my time to, I spend on IG like 3-4 hours per day. I am also being cautious not to only like photos of accounts that are extremely popular, because I'd have almost zero chance to get noticed. It's better to search for accounts with tons of followings, to like their photos. How active are we talking about? 1k per month seems like a good, steady rate to me. And yeah, I've only been getting likes.. No followers. I thought I'm being "active" but I guess not lol
I think it depends what the niche is though honestly. But then again, I like so many different niches so idk

To be honest, it does have to do with the niche, because my niche is very specific and quite popular, especially on Instagram. My husband is in the fashion photography niche and having to hunt down accounts of models, stylists, photographers etc, is a much harder work to accomplish. He has let me handle his own account, as he's seen that I'm doing brilliantly with mine, but it's going slower on his account...
This is something i have mastered and Now I have 3 accounts, 2 with over 10k followers. Its time consuming but its the age old follow then unfollow. So by manually doing this I have come up with IG's follow and unfollow limits (may not be 100% accurate but I have been doing this for a little over a year).
According to my trial and error you can follow 30 people every 15 minutes and unfollow 50 every 15 minutes.
For every 7,000 or so that you follow you gain about 1500 followers.
For every 7,000 that you follow you loose 2-300 .
You retain approx 1200 or so. This method can be very time consuming but it seems to not violate IG's TOS, at least not yet.
I want to try followliker but Im bit skeptical. I was using instagress for a while and that was ok but im scared to lose my account. Any experience with followliker and any bots?
Actually, I don't really do commenting., unless I notice something that is really worth it. I am just hunting down accounts that look like they easily follow others (less followers/more followings), through key-hashtags for my niche. The good thing with my niche is that even the bad quality photos, are not the kind of photos that you feel guilty for hitting the "like" button and all have a lot of fun, so you don't feel like you're wasting your time. On the contrary, on my husband's account I go through a whole lot of ugly photos of wannabe models etc that are not worth liking at all! It kinda makes it pointless, having to like so much stuff that is totally rubbish to gain many followers. So depending your niche, it might be much harder to do the same thing.Dam, that is quite a bit of time to be on IG. Well, maybe not.. Guess I'll try that out because I'm only on it for like 10 minutes or so (lol). Would you say commenting matters? I'm doing both liking and commenting on photos I genuinely like.. But to get noticed, I can only imagine that commenting is necessary.
