Authority Site SEO Case Study

I do not know about others and I am not one to generalize so I can't speak for others but I am doing this for a couple of reasons:

1) To share how one can make a very nice long term living in IM.
2) To get some of the BHW community seeing something aside from the short term revenue streams, which I believe are bad for the industry and bad for the person doing them, if that is all they are doing.
3) To motivate others by sharing success in this kind of long term venture.

I don't need others to slap me on the back to move forward; I don't think I ever had that need in my life. I do think it is an important part of my responsibilities to give to others in my little corner of the world. The few minutes I take out of my day to share is infinitesimal compared to the value it can have to those that read, learn, implement and earn from my little knowledge.
keep up with the good work, what is a forum for if not sharing.

hey BTB been following your journey since you started it and finally started my own journey , I will rank a mini authority site though , thanks for all the info you have shared on a single thread ;)

The thread has inspired me for sure.

Subscribed. I am amazed by the knowledge shared thus far. You have without a doubt changed my life and approach to IM with this journey.

I must say I have read many Journals but this has got to be one of the best and most detailed out there. The stuff I have learned while reading through this is awesome, Read through the 9 pages and was taking notes the whole time, bookmarking links etc. I'm not a very good writer at all but I know a few people that might want to get into something like this. Thank you very much for this and I look forward to reading every update along the way.

I have a couple questions.

1. I know your explaining this to make is so anyone can do this, But if someone had a little bit to invest into making a site like this what would you suggest they invest into?

2. How do you organize all of this stuff, You have 50 Web 2.0s sitting there just aging, Do you use Excel to keep everything organized for each site you have?

Thank you once again.

Content. I have built sites like this and outsourced the content writing and just edited it but that would be where I would spend money if that were the route I was taking on this one.

That is correct, Excel with tabs so I know what is happening, what I have done and where I want to go. I actually end up with a fair amount of tabs for the various things after a year or so but without some kind of organization I'd be in deep sneakers and have no clue as to what my sites were doing or why they were generating revenue.

Great journey op. I've been watching and reading some of your other threads and love your work. Thanks for keeping us informed and motivated.

What an amazing journey! Thank you BTB!
The main reason I think why most of IMers fail is jumping to more tempting methods without stick to their main project.
Really there are handful of genius methods making people $$$$ a day shared on BHW. So how can you concentrate yourself into the authority way instead of app marketing/pinterest/intagram and all other beautiful strategies? To be honest, BigBuddy is making almost 2000$ a day alone,by display admob ads in his IOS apps...I think I ll never get past the 'information overload' and 'shiny object syndrome' in my life... always get lost...

If you saw my revenue numbers for the sites I own you would have no trouble concentrating... I promise.

Very good thread, subscribing... Could you motivate us even more and share your revenue numbers as well? :)

I did last page... you probably just missed it as it was in a post with some other things.

On average they generate between $1,200.00/$1,500.00 - $2,300.00/$2,700.00 per month. There are variances due to the amount of traffic there is on the internet for the month (Holiday Months are slower for me due to my niches). One site alone is not anything to jump up and down about but string a bunch of them together and you can have a nice passive (well, semi-passive) income for a long time.

Yes i missed that, thanks. If I understand it correctly, you said you have around 35 sites and each of your sites is making almost 2k/month in average.... I am not good at math, but the final number seems to be quite huge, am I right? :)

traged, in this industry, as in many others, if a person works hard over a decent period of time, they can make a very good living.

BTB, What is your Keyword Optimization plan

Do you target similar keywords in the same article?, Care about keyword density? or Optimize for one keyword only?

Skin problems treatment
Treatment for Skin problems
Best treatment for skin problems

All different keywords, same meaning and have different search numbers. How would you target all of them in one article ?

I would actually have all three of them in one article usually.

In this instance, it appears that the target is Treatment for Skin Problems. With that in mind I would use all three of those and then some in an article in order to not jam my keyword down the google bot. I'm usually not all that concerned about search numbers as much as I am about having my content look natural and have them include my target KW in a way that appears natural.

I'm real fortunate in that I can write in a way that is real natural looking as I write just the way I talk 99% of the time. I don't, and suggest others do not either, force my KW into a conversation (article) as that ticks off Google and also hurts my bounce rate. Writing like that not only gets those KWs ranked but ancillary KWs as well that create a spiderweb (Spiderweb relative to websites attributed to RabbitKing) that attracts more than just those searching for your initial KWs.

Look, I'm all about making money when I work, and this is work to me, but I'm also egotistical enough to think that I have something to offer my visitor in terms of information and thus try to write in such a way that the reader is going to get something of legitimate value, yet appeal to the search engines at the same time. That is one of the reasons I ONLY choose niches in which I have an interest; I can write about them because I have knowledge in those areas.

Hopefully some of that makes sense to you, KHer0.

subscribed, i'm also creating a couple of authority sites, hope to learn along the way, although I feel you don't need it good luck BTB;)

I totally agree with you

Now Focusing on the Optimization part, as stuffing keywords to destroy the article is so 2006 style

Do you use any analyzation software to know your competitor keywords density, Actually care about the density ? if yes for one keyword, what about the others, just insert them in the article once or twice

I am asking to know learn from ur experience the right way to target more than one keyword in the same articles. You can easily rank from a keyword with 200 searches / month but it won't be worth it, Ranking for 5 LT keywords with 200 searches / month is the right way to go. However, there is no much data about optimizing the same article for all of them

I've never gave competition a thought to any extent that it would cause me to try and rank a site or not. I started out just building a site based on what I saw as a need way back when and did not know anything about competition, KWs, backlinks, etc... I just knew people needed what I could write about.

That served me well then and still serves me well now and my sites are all in pretty competitive niches.

I'm not saying not to do that, I'm saying I am the competition, not the other guy.
