Power of PBNs?

Where does the power from a PBN come from? Is it strictly from using a domain that already had juice from the past?

I mean like if you were to build a brand new site with absolutely no links for your PBN, what's the point of it if it passes nothing? Would you have to do SEO on this PBN site to get the juice, but in doing so, wouldn't this defeat the purpose of having the blog "private"?

I guess what I'm basically trying to ask is, where does a PBN's power come from?

Yeah, I knew this, I was just wondering if ALL the power comes from the previous domain is all. I was just curious as to whether or not if using a fresh domain had any purpose to it whatsoever.

In no way would I claim myself to be an "SEO expert", I would say I only have a fairly good understanding of the basics. I understand why PBNs are effective, how to set one up, etc, but like I mentioned above, I was just wondering if everything came SOLELY from the domain is all.

I suppose it was too basic of a question to ask and most people probably considered this as common sense, my fault for asking. I just like to ask as many questions as possible (however basic they are) just to confirm what I research is correct. I have absolutely no experience in building them, I was just researching the theory of building them and using them effectively is all.

Edit: However, I appreciate the time to answer my question anyway, regardless of how simple it was.

On a side note, I don't think post count really matters much in how much one truly knows about digital marketing.

Even if I have 10,000 posts, I'll still ask questions even if my question is considered simplistic.

There's no harm to it, as long as it augments my own knowledge I don't really care.

The truth is you need a mix, a cheap PBN site stands out like a sore thumb, if it is looked at. A custom PBN, you won't know you're not looking at a real site. The difference is cost and budget. It is as simple as that. Nothing wrong with having a new site in your network along side more aged domains but I'd personally only build quality links to it or you're wasting you time.

I use both fresh and old domains in my networks. Do the fresh ones have any effect? Don't know, don't care, my sites rank.

I throw fresh ones in as the fresh ones tend to be like the sites I am trying to rank, older domains tend to be sites I do not want to rank, they are just there as part of the PBN.

What do you mean by "like the sites I am trying to rank" and "to be sites I do not want to rank"? Do you mean you would use newer domains are more niche-specific and your older domains would be more general?

For example let's say your niche was something like "childcare". Would your newer domains be roughly in the same niche as well and your older niches would be more general like "healthcare" or "education"?

Yes for example because I work in the casino niche it is hard to find casino related domains with good backlinks, so I will mostly use gaming niche old domains, then I will use new domains for niche specific. I do not want to rank the gaming sites, as they are no use to me, I only want to rank sites related to casinos, like the new domains I throw in the PBN. So I will create other PBN links towards the new PBN sites.

Oh, so in your strategy for PBNs, you actually use yours as more of a "tiered" structure?

Instead of a traditional "PBN --> Money Site", using your example, your structure looks more like "Older gaming niche sites --> Newer casino site --> Casino money site"?

I'm guessing since your new casino PBNs have no juice to it because of the fresh domain, you use these older gaming niches to pass the juice along instead, which in a way (technically speaking) converts this "gaming" niche juice to "casino" in order to make it more relevant to your moneysite?

I actually never thought about it this way or even considered it. Nice bit of knowledge to have picked up here, thanks!

Edit: Another question (if you don't mind), does this affect the way you try to conceal your PBN at all by using this type of method? I would figure it gets a little bit more difficult since you now have a little more interlinking between your own sites.

I think some people over think interlinking, every site tends to have masses of "inter links", if you do not make it blatantly obvious that they are all your websites, then you should have no worries. It is quite simple, you just do not cut corners to save time or money.
