These seem to be conflicting statements.
Did you have spamming links pointing at the website and thin content? Is your English up to scratch? Can you send someone one of the websites and get them to investigate. Preferably RK.

Several folks are reporting this.
Looks like Google's doing the rounds before Christmas so they can boost adwords sales just a notch for the quarter.

Tis is a blackhat forum. It is indexed by google. Generally, you want to avoid linking to anyone's sites from a blackhat forum.
If you want to see the site, ask for the URL in a PM.

A site with 400+ articles won't be considered as an Authority site.

That's not a rule, there are many smaller niches that don't fit that category, where in maybe 10 years you can come up with close to that number. I've always considered authority websites those where most of the content has a real contribution and it's not created just to target a keyword... and really you don't have to worry much about link building since other people will consider it useful too (it doesn't mean that you cannot promote it besides of that).
Treat your website as a business, set high standards for the content and think about visitors as potential clients do everything in your powers to make sure that your articles are targeted and useful...
P.S. I've said before, it's important for others to consider your website an authority not you.

OP, I am sorry to hear that your sites seem to have taken a hit. It's a nightmare when it happens and can play havoc with things.
As there are SO very many reasons that could be responsible for your sites 'slap' (?) it would have been better if you posted as much info in your opening post as possible about your sites without revealing the URL. The last part is obvious but I see that one member did mention that you should have posted the URL.
With all of the information upfront then others would be able to quickly chip in with their thoughts and suggestions that may have caused the problem rather than going through the 'guessing about your site' stage.
Quite rightly, it seems to cause a little alarm among members here whenever anyone posts of an unexpected G update/shake up as most of us watch that space very closely.

I heard often that google is more strict in niches where they make the big adwords-bang themselves. Makes sense economically but ss that actually true? If yes why not just going in niches where there are no ads allowed, like adult and gambling?

Some guest posts to one site, but its wierd they both got slaped at the same time.
