I am a new member. I apologize if this has been asked before.

I am currently doing ORM meeting clients offline, all small business in the human resources field (employment and resume services). If a 100% online resume service has a bad rep, they may as well close shop today. Their clients always check them up on Google. Always. If they have a unique name unlike anyone else's, they are guaranteed to be on page 1 of Google search results if there's a report on Ripoffreport. Other review sites like Pissed Consumer and Scambook don't seem to make it to page 1 for long, if at all.

I plan to cold call from now on. Which industries (preferably small business such as the aforementioned) would be in the most need of ORM? Thank you for welcoming me into the community. :)

I'd say hooker review sites need ORM the most.

PS. Welcome to BHW. Use the search function ;)

Pretty much, all service sellers.

Personal experience is that the smaller sellers need us more. The bigger ones have many customers already. Any other suggestions please?

Ummm, the ones with bad reviews online? There is no particular one - any business with an online presence is a potential client. Dig up ones with negative info and go sell them. Don't make it harder than it needs to be...

I have a lot of dentists for clients as well as service providers. People selling physical products are much less frequent than service sellers. If I were you, I would target people that need ORM rather than particular industries.

My current client list includes the following:

Celebrities
Politicians
Foreign dignitaries
Small and medium businesses (largest is under $300 million gross sales per year)
Small business owners
Doctors (dentists, plastic surgeon, weight loss, research, retired surgeon, etc.)
Defense contractor
Military weapons manufacturer
Industry "Guru's"
Attorneys
Judges
Modeling agency
Talent agency
Individuals (biggest section by far)

If I were to try and target a specific sector I would miss 90% of my clients.

What's the best way to market your services online? What sets you apart from your competition? Are you able to post a link to your site? I've seen some reputation sites have bad reviews themselves on page 1 of ROR.

Check on the Ripoff Report who is getting flames and then contact them.
For ORM the best paying clients would be hotels, from my (short) experience.

my suggestion is to target politicans and celebs...I am doing ORM only for politicans.

I agree with lord10127, all service sellers are potential buyers of ORM, because I do not think that there is something like the perfect online reputation...

There is a lot of good advice/starting points given already. If you think someone is just going to say "here is my site check out exactly what I do and copy it" you have lost your mind.

Beauty surgeons paying very very well :)

Beauty surgeons, like most doctors, are so in demand. I tried ORM with 1 pediatrician and he told me that he doesn't care as he has a waiting room full of people and a patient every 10 minutes.

I can believe that, my pediatrician is always booked and the waiting room is full.

I do all of my work in one particular niche, which we pretty much own, because of your unique expertise and experience in it. I agree that there are prospects in every industry, so it does raise the question as to why limit yourself?

The answer is that specializing in a particular niche gives you a competitive edge. We simply look more qualified to clients. We can get to know all the key decision-makers in our niche. When a prospect looks at our client list and case studies, it's all companies like them. Prospecting is easier.

End result: we end up beating out much bigger (and smaller) competitors, every time (yes, really -- every time -- we haven't lost a single ORM sale to a competitor in 3 years).
