Nick, truer words seldom told. You hit the nail on the head and really theway I see it the peple that REALLY MAKE IT in IM - we don't know where or who they are, yet they make mucho mucho dineros. and people like howie, and other too many to mention so called "gurus" make their money on wannabe IM's.
So yes, take away howie's products, if I really wanted to I could find it elsewhere, BHW is not the only game in town for christ sakes

Just like everything else, I take Howie's stuff with a big grain of salt.

No method that anyone tells you is really going to make you as much money as you want unless you make that method your own.

I personally like Howie's stuff, especially his business mindset. His methods have opened my eyes to a some new stuff, and some was stuff I already knew.

The thing that makes the difference for me is that I take something, re-apply it to my own business, and then test, track, and tweak.

There will always be "gurus" and "anti-gurus" selling you their methods. But if you just read something, apply it as it expecting to make just as much as they claim, you will most likely be dissappointed. Not because they are all liars(some are though), it's because you will be doing exactly what about 95% of everyone that got the same info as you will be doing.

The point is that it's great to learn new stuff. But to really make it work for you and take your business to the next level, you need to add your own twists to it.

Some things work when they happen by accident like Rob Benwell's first BTTB.

The guy was totally unknown and very shy (you could hardly hear him on his first videos) and spilled everything that worked for him and it did for others too, at least a certain time.

Now of course he's part of the big league and doesn't give a s**t about people anymore.

He and his "friend guru's" create a buzz like "find out about my secret software" which is nothing else as a three-way-link network.

If they're aware of something that really works, they use it between them and once it looses it's effect they "wanna share it with us" for a "bargain"

Well Now that we are on the subject let's talk about words.
Words like "Black Hat is Back"
...Now if that means a training course is using black hat methods
to promote your web sites, well then it gives the user fair waring.

These methods are not for the faint of heart and can get you
in a bit of trouble for violating TOS.

When did putting up free websites at: hubpages, wet paint,
squidoo lenses become such an nasty evil black hat technique?
Oh snap!
They might delete one of your lenses!
That is using words to mislead less intelligent people.

I have to respectfully disagree with most of what Nick Flame said. I see his point and yeah, I know Howie does rehash his content. But in his post he makes alot of inferences that I think are incorrect. I've gone thru Howie's material and part of his method is to make sure that the keywords he targets are worthwhile before putting in a ton of work/time.

The main reason I disagree with him though is because I recently used Howie's methods to make about $7700 in one month from just a handfull of long tail keywords. Now, just so you know, I promoted a new product that had some buzz behind it...so alot of that was timing coupled with the fact that the keywords related to that product were new. But it was pretty much all Howie's stuff that got me my page 1 rankings..and that got me the traffic I needed.

But bottom line, Howie's stuff does work IF you put it into action. I mainly used ezinearticles.com, Squidoo, YouTube, and wordpress.com to get my rankings. I did exactly what Howies lays out and sure enough, I took over page 1. At one point I had all top ten results...then I think it dwindled down to like 6 or 7....but the biggest benefit was that I was able to push all of my competitors to page 2 by leveraging these social media sites and just linking it all together....I think I sent some links to the pages from Digg also...but it really wasnt more than 6-8 hours worth of work. I felt it was more working smart than working hard.

Bottom line: most of these higher dollar courses that are readily available for free here work. So grab ONE that peaks your interest and put it into action. Screw all the rest of the downloads...just focus on putting one course into action. Eventually the downloads section here will go away as word spreads and more and more "gurus" come here to add their stuff to the do not share list....so use what you have access to now.

Anything that you do in IM that is going to make you money WILL TAKE WORK. Even blackhat marketing takes a ton fo work to really make good money. Alot of folks think Blackhat=easy shortcut to make tons of money....I personally think blackhat marketing is harder than white hat because you constantly have to build more sites and try to outsmart Google (no easy task at all). But whitehat or blackhat, anything worth doing will require alot of work.

I do agree with one thing others have said though. Howie's stuff isn't blackhat. Grayhat at best. I think he just used the blackhat thing as a marketing ploy. Pretty small percentage of IMers that really know what blackhat is so he can get away with it. (one of my WP blogs did get taken down though so I'm feeling pretty black hatty right about now. lol)

This is what I'm looking for. The positive side of effort and determination. I never make such amount of money in 1 month, but I believe it can happen using Howies method.

Ditto. I was able to almost dominate a larger niche using the same techniques. Couldn't quite dig out the top 3 listings..but they did have high PR.

Ahhh ! I just filled out the form for apprentice 4. I thought it was like a $1K course. I definitely cant afford the $10K for now .. I'll have to continue doing what i already learnt from here.
