Why does he crosslink his PBNs??

My by faremost succesful competitor not only has blatantly obvious PBNs - he also crosslinks the individual PBN sites with each other. For me this looks stupid because you just need to find one site and you have his entire network then. But again: He has a lot of success. So there must be a reason for this crosslinking.

What advantage does this bring him?

PS: I tried to look at thread from WF the other day and my firewall blocked it because of "malware". I pretty much just laughed my ass off until the next day. After calming down from laughing my ass off for 12 hour straight, I made a website called 12 Hour Abs that pretty much redirects to WF.

Doesn't matter if it works short now or not. If you care about your money site avoid this tactic. And avoid wheel structures in general.

He is doing this for 3 years now. Yes, his linkwheel-PBN is in place for 3 years now and google does not seem to care. I guess he banked A LOT

At the end it's always a risk versus reward calculation, the footprint is certainly much higher, but it's not like a non-interlinked PBN would be a safe long-term solution.

If PBN site A is considered and authority in the niche, and PBN site B is considered an authority in the niche, and MS 1 is considered an authority on the niche, then why would linking to each other seem not natural?

If it was combined with obvious footprints then it may look suspicious, but if they are hidden well and the links look in context and niche relevant, then from an algorithmic perspective, interlinking does not equal penalty or affiliation.

Popular news sites often link to each other, but Google doesn't think they are part of some mega PBN.

I concur. If his PBN sites look like legit sites and they get their own search traffic and have some social shares as well, it wouldn't look unnatural if they linked to each other.
