I find it so hard to continue creating quality content for a website that isn't bringing money for the time being. After 2 weeks or working hard and publishing more than ~10k words I'm starting to have doubts about my site. How do you cope with this felling, (if you have it of course).

Actually I do!

A few years back I started an authority site, I spent about 4 weeks SOLID writing content for it every day.
After 4-8 weeks I wasn't getting any traffic and I got really fed up and basically decided to give up, the only think it had gained was some PR, so I sold a load of blogroll links and guest posts for it on Fiverr.com and made a nice bit of money but basically ruined the site.

A week or two after I had started selling blogroll links, the site had started showing up on google for loads of terms and traffic started pouring in!
By the time that happened I had already given up and sort of sent the site into a downward spiral, and lost my motivation.

But it made me think to myself, after that initial period of doubt, if I had carried on with the same momentum, the traffic would have started firing in and the site could have really took off.

From that I learnt exactly what it means to have perseverance, and how important it is in IM.

Will follow this.

Not yet, I want to build up some good foundations before I even think about SEO.

Day 6: 14/11/2014

5 articles published on the site now - 4 days since the site went live so just over 1 article per day.
Not Any sign of traffic yet, but a few visits from Google and Bing.

I am resisting the urge to start any off site SEO at the moment, rather I am going to let it be indexed naturally and see how it goes for a little while.

Probably wait until about 30 days in before thinking again about that.

have also stacked up a load of images for publishing, I think this is anther thing I read in one of BTB's articles:
Just do a Google image search for the niche, then click on search tools, and select the licensing drop down, then you can select to only display images without any licensing requirements.

One site that came up quite often for me was http://pixabay.com - They have lots of images listed as free for commercial use and no attribution required, so thats quite a good source.

Will try to resist from posting too many more updates at the moment - unless I do anything else structural to the site, or come up with any useful tips regarding research and so on.

Other than that, will wait until we are a few weeks in and have a nice amount of content growing on the site.

At the moment I am writing the content myself, but I am currently sourcing a writer to supplement that, ideally I'd like to be writing 2-3 articles per day, and probably outsourcing 1 article per day.

I believe there is also a HQ content provider coming into the marketplace in the next few days, and they are a top contender at the moment for the outsourced portion of the content for this site.

Submited the site to Google webmaster tools just now. Was going to look for a sitemap plugin but realised Yoast wordpress plugin does it all for me Submitted sitemap to Google.

Created an email account for the site as well as a twitter profile - and introduced the new site on there, with a few hashtags - probably come back to that in more detail later.

Published another 500 word article - just cant get over that 500 word barrier though ... :-/

I had this issue too. What you have to do is before you start writing write 4-5 subtitles. Then once you finish read it up and add little stuff here and there. I got articles of 500 words up to 800 by just adding a sentence here and there.

Good luck David, I have been following BTB's useful thread, and started my authority journey a few months ago. One thing I have done that BTB has not, is build up social accounts at the same time. 6K likes on FB and 4K followers on Twitter have built naturally with the build up of content, all helps with traffic. Anyway good luck.

Thats a great idea, Im going to try that, simple but it makes sense and I hadnt thought of it that way.
Probably will make better formated articles as well.

Thats a good idea, I have started that as well on a small scale - I have created a Twitter account, started following some influential accounts in the niche and I have set it up on my phone - the plan being to just start "getting involved" within the niche a little bit.
Probably do some proactive follower building as well after a while, but trying to keep it all HQ and targeted as possible.

Self writing is best, yet time consuming, but most effective.

However if that content writing service is damn good, it's worth to outsource as well!

Followed Heraclitus' with the latest article (Added several sub headings to the blank page first, then used those to base the article around) and managed to hit 1000 words
