Domain names with city name in them

So I seen that domain names like this were coming around:
https://www.godaddy.com/tlds/vegas (dont want to be too public about this, personal reason LOL)

But that domain extension vs .com, net, .co, .biz, .mobi etc...

whats the domain rank authority for an extension like this?

If someone were to build a site would a .co be better than the extension that is there?
Would a .biz be better than the city domain name etc?

Any info on these would be great! I got a client out there, and I didn't know what to tell her when she was telling me about that new name extension.

No proof myself, but I strongly advise sticking to .com, even .org or .net
These new extensions feel like a way to bank on morons.

Funky is right in my opinion... I have ZERO issue ranking using the normal and customary extensions for sites that are city centric.

I've ranked them with the domain as citynameindustry.com/net/org but they can be ranked if they do not have the city in the domain name itself.

The new extensions have no influence when it comes to ranking a site for a local business.

I think the new TLD are great for vanity reasons. Making a mini site on one or 301'ing it is all i would use them for. I prefer sticking to the typical TLD for my rankings though.

The new extensions seem lame to me. The only one that is relevant is .XXX for obvious reasons. Stick to the top 4. COM, NET, ORG, CO.

I get what you mean.. But the client in that city. Is liking the name, not for the actual SEO/M part. But more for the look and the name.

So the org would be best I suppose right? 1 question about that, aren't there issues using an ORG and not being an orginisation? And only being a busness? Can somone clairify on that for me?

What I might do, is use the ORG but have a 301 scrip fwd the city name with a mask. or I guess I could plant both extensions in the same subfolder and have it be both. Could that backfire on me, for dupe content?

Why not test it and find out? Get the .org too, in case it doesn't work and you want to do a .301 redirect

Exactly. It never hurts to have a plan B or C or all the way to Z.
