IM Weed Smokers

I would guess a lot of IMers smoke weed since it makes being alone feel okay. When I smoked it did not bother me that I stayed on the computer 14 hours a day, not socializing, or getting laid.

This. This is why weed is very dangerous...it flies under the radar because you're able to function normally on it. I smoked for 10 years, 5 years being daily, and 2 years being straight 85%+ solvent free dabs :). Living in SoCal I worked at a medical clinic for a bit and I've been around it all.

Yes it's nice to be high, you can definitely function, but it slowly takes over your life without you knowing. For me, at least.

Ask yourself, does taking a drug that negatively effects your memory and concentration take you closer to your goals? It didn't for me, and I highly regret the choices I made in my teen years and twenties.

If you're an avid pot smoker, try this: take a 1 month break. See how much better you feel and how much better you function. It's an amazing experience being sober after smoking for such a long time. I wish I quit years ago.

Maybe you don't feel better, then go back. 1 month of no ganj won't hurt.

If some of you have trouble quitting, I highly recommend http://reddit.com/r/leaves for support. I couldn't sleep for a week and eating didn't come back for like 10 days...non addictive my ass.

Sorry about the rant, but this is something I feel I needed to write out because it has affected my life so harshly. To those that can handle the weekly smoke, good for you! But once you start smoking daily, take a step back and reevaluate where you are in life.

HAHAHAHAHA

Lol @ everyone arguing in favor of consistent weed in this thread. It is so clear that you haven't been down the weed black hole. It's not the stoner comedies in the slightest. It's anxiety, it's sluggishness, it's complacency. Breaknbrix/mickyfu are both right on point. (I doubt I am as old as you guys, but I did get sucked into the weed trap very early.)

Anyone who disagrees with them, continue smoking daily for a couple of years. Then, come back to this thread and read your posts. I'm looking at you, "magnifier" guy.

You will cringe.

Everyone talking about how High you go,how creative you become after smoking weed until they know how weed sucks juice from your balls,If you want to taste it once in a while its not a problem but if you keep sucking it it will suck back badly.
And most important information for weeder brothers is eat highly nutritious, timely and healthy food if you want to reduce it side effects and don't drink too much water while you smoke ,but drink a lot while you are not smoking, after your pot session is over gargle with warm salt water it will drain some of the harmful chemicals.

You will go far in life I'm sure, you can't do anything constructive without drugs?

Thanks Jared I appreciate that.

I'm not going to argue with anyone else about weed I just want to update about the positive experiences I've had since I stopped 18 days ago. Like I said, this is my second time quitting. Last time I made it 10 months. This time I'm trying to go 10 years.

1. No hyposomnia - I no longer need to sleep 10 hours / day.

2. No laying in bed for 1-2 hours when I DO wake up. When I wake up now within 5 minutes I'm brimming with energy.

3. I only need to sleep 7-8 hours now and it's a much deeper nights rest. I know that weed messes with the REM cycle of your sleep, so you sleep lighter and for longer. Now I sleep deep, I actually have dreams, and it's amazing how much energy I have throughout the day.

4. I never even realized how depressed I was till I stopped. I feel so freaking happy now it's unbelievable.

5. Memory is coming back like crazy. Just between memory and sleep I want to say I'm saving around 4-6 hours day.

6. No forgetting where the keys are, or where my wallet is, or where the letter "A" is on the keyboard. I can type much much faster. Memory all around is getting very sharp now.

7. Sense of smell has improved. I never realized your olfactory senses are directly related to memory and my nose is discovering all types of new & wonderful smells. Example: I live 30 ft from the beach and finally I can smell the ocean again. I honestly can't remember the last time I could smell the sea water.

8. My vision has gotten clearer. No bullshit. I can read much faster, take in information much faster, respond to signs on the road faster. I feel sharp like an Eagle.

9. Music sounds 1000xs better. I get goosebumps when I listen to it now. Same thing happened last time I quit and I'm not sure why all I know is it's awesome.

10. I can speak much clearer and articulate words better. No more mumbling. My tongue simply doesn't get "twisted" anymore. Like before, I'd always have to slow down just to pronounced certain words... now they roll of my tongue effortlessly.

11. Sex drive is going through the roof. Since all my senses seem to be improving, I notice myself getting hornier much more often. Before I'd masturbate like once a month max. Now I feel the urge to do it everyday. I think this is because weed raises estrogen (my nutrition professor in college told me this) and to compensate your body suppresses testosterone.

12. No more "bloaty" look. I look much drier. At the same time my skin looks much cleaner, more red than gray and it also seems to be "glowing".

13. I can strike up conversations far more easily now. This past week I've found myself talking to nearly everyone. Today I struck up a conversation with 2 old women at the dollar store while buying halloween decorations. We spoke for almost 15 minutes FFS!!!

14. I'm more interested in people in general, what they have to say, and feel much more "available".

15. Starting to cope with stress better.

16. This one's really crazy. Apparently, when I was smoking weed I had a serious case of OCD and did not even realize it. For instance, I was always doube, triple and quadruple checking everything I did. I don't know why. Like I'd straighten papers on the table. I'd stare a pictures on the wall and think they were crooked. Anytime I wrote an email, post, message, anything I had to read and reread it 5-10 times before sending or posting. Almost like I didn't trust myself and always had to be looking for problems. It's really hard to explain but I can truly sit down and feel relaxed now w/out my mind racing over random useless shit.

17. Motivation. I have gotten more done in these last 18 days than I've gotten done in the last 3 months (no bullshit).

18. I find myself calling my mother, father, brother and family members much more often. I find myself having better conversations with them. Like I actually care to have a connection with my relatives now.

19. My temper isn't so short anymore! It's unbelievable. Someone cut me off on the road today and I actually smiled!!! It was the weirdest. fucking. thing. ever. I had the right of way, they peeled out right in front of me and I had to stomp on my breaks. But then I simply thought, "that person's stupid" and I actually believed it. Rather than honking my horn and going apeshit like a child. It was crazy how easy it was to drop and not take it personal.

20. I can go on all day long. But my outlook for the future is clearer, brighter and far more optimistic.

Am I still getting cravings? Hell yes. Every 2-3 hours I find myself thinking, "man I'd really love to get blitzed right now, just sit back and detach from the world". That's the 1 thing I miss about weed is escaping reality and drifting off into my own little world. Saturdays seem to be the worst. Like as the weekend approaches I find myself thinking about smoking more and more. And I know tomorrow will be a bad day as far as cravings go. But I've planned a lot of shit in hopes to tire myself out, that way when night comes I can just hit the sack and pass out.

Finally, I'd like to rethank that guy who dropped the link for this thread: http://www.uncommonforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19212

I find that when I get really bad cravings, I immediately go to that thread and remind myself why I'm doing this. And I honestly think if he did not show me that thread there's a great chance I would have relapsed by now.

But I'm not.

I'm gonna fight this shit as much as I can. Because I know by month 3, cravings will be a breeze to deal with. I know this from the last time I quit. And I know if I do light up, my current mindset won't allow me to enjoy it. As good as it will feel, I'll be putting my life back on the roulette table. I'll be sacrificing all the new and wonderful things I've been experiencing these past few weeks. Like that conversation I had today with those 2 old ladies. As crazy as it may sound, it inspired me deeply. And I feel like I inspired them too. I want to meet more people, get out more, get back to growing my business, get back to developing myself, meet a girl, stop being a fucking stoner.... and discover who the "real me" is. The real me is definitely not a pothead. I'm better than that shit and I know it. Life is such a precious gift and I refuse to flush another minute down toilet. :)

Wow great results bro, maybe after some weeks keep updating, I feel that sharing how you feel creates a kind of commitment with yourself too, and so it can help you to stay focused in your goal!

Little Bit in Party after having Vodka or Tequila...

Awesome feelings , just like a flying bird...
:third:Rock

Caution: Please Dont be Influenced & Dont Try It. Its really Harmful

I used to smoke pot from the age of 14 to early 20s, so I am qualified to comment. Pot kills your brain, like it or don't. Maybe he has smoked pot and grew up, ever thought about that?

Would I have actually needed to take heroin to know that it turns the majority of users into filthy lying unwashed scruffs?

I'm no better but some of the replies you make in certain threads make me wonder.

14 to early 20's? Sounds like you were the issue and not pot. At 14 your brain is still developing, no wonder your brain got fucked.

Wow can't believe I have just caught this thread, yes you are right, but then again, I doubt many people mature past the age of their teens then think I will smoke pot. I guess the majority of pot smokers get roped in when they are young.

I smoked it once and will never smoke it again! i was peer-pressured by my college friends ... 15 min after smoking i had a huge panic attack and felt like there was a devil inside me! cant go thru that feeling again! NEVER AGAIN!!
WEED is EVIL! Devils work!

Ok, as a person who is now more than 2 years off the weed train, let me join the discussion.

1. Quitting weed was the hardest challenge of my life. The withdrawal period was about 4 months, while the first 45 days I was able to do absolutely nothing.

The worst part of it is that all the pot heads keep on repeating that it's not addictive and such. Why do they do it? Well, first they need some kind of social approval to get stoned first thing in the morning, I guess...
Being an IMer thought me how to use Google with some advanced techniques (Thanks BHW!). BUT, after trying it 1-2 times, instead of googling, I decided to ask some pot heads whether the drug is addictive. What the fuck were I thinking? Anyway, they obviously told me it's not and they can stop anytime (they are still smoking lol!)

If you are just exploring weed, I highly suggest you to moderate your use, and only do it for fun, as you can get on the train really quickly. If you don't believe me go search for "marijuana addiction forum"; "Marijuana abuse forum" and so on.

Once you start smoking daily you become completely unemotional, you feel anxiety, you explore totally new heights of being lazy, weight gain, and seriously I don't even want to remember this period of mine. Luckily I realised what was happening quite quickly.

Do yourself a favor, and stop reading those researches where it says it's ok. Search in Google for people who have suffered from marijuana abuse, and make the calculations if you want the same thing happening to you. We are all grown up here, everybody can make a decision for himself.

HOWEVER, all BHW members, before saying that weed is great, take into account that someone might get addicted just because you are a reputable member here, and people trust you...

Some of the replies in this thread are hilarious at best. No shit, if you go down the black hole you'll screw yourself up. But that's like with anything in life, same goes for those who do fuck all with their life's and don't smoke pot, where exactly are they heading? Towards the white light? If you let anything drag you down be it other people, depression, laziness, procrastination, alcohol, etc. you will eventually end up in a black hole with a huge problem. Awareness and self control is the key! If you have neither, well pot or no pot, you won't get very far.

Weed trap? Maybe you got sucked into the trap created by commercialism and you pointed the finger at weed because you lacked the awareness, who knows?

And to anyone who says pot and sports don't mix, look at Joe Rogan and some of the people he associates himself with.

What some of you don't get is that balance and moderation (awareness and self control) is they key to everything.

I don't smoke but I've realized that some people are just way too ignorant, or have had bad experiences caused by their own lack of education that has hindered them from seeing any potential benefits. And once you've scarred yourself mentally, it is very hard to move past that and learn something new. The subconscious mind is a very strong part of the brain.

There is so much more that can be said but it's pointless because those who understand will benefit and those who don't will just be wasting your time because they've hit a mental block that they're too comfortable to move on from.

Most importantly, I am not advertising pot, I am not saying it's good or bad for you, I am not telling you to go and do it, I'm just voicing my opinion which I'm sure some will share.

18-25 year olds smoke pot the most. Nearly 19% of that group has smoked weed in the last month.
Then usage drops after 26. Only 5% in that group smoke weed regularly.

http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/marijuana

Also, a long standing New Zealand study showed that people who started smoking weed heavily in their teens lost an average of 8 IQ points between the ages of 13-38. Most importantly, those cognitive abilities were not restored once they stopped smoking weed.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2014/08/05/where-americans-smoke-marijuana-the-most/

Looking back, I'd say at least 1/4 friends I had in highschool were smoking weed on the weekends. Then 1/10 were smoking it everyday. What's crazier, after prom, I counted **86** people from our yearbook who dropped E during prom weekend. Maybe it has to do with location but I live 40 minutes outside of Newark. Tons of drugs come in through our ports and NJ is experiencing one of the worst heroin epidemics in history right now.

As far as IQ goes, I definitely think weed effected my brain.

Cause I've kept journals ever since I was 10. And there's been many times I've gone back and read those journals, just to find myself looking up words in the dictionary. Like I knew what those words meant back then but now? No fucking clue. So if weed has impacted anything, it's definitely my memory. My vocabulary is nowhere near as large as it use to be, and I can't do math for shit. But since I'm naturally a genius I can spare to lose a few brain cells.

ps. 1 week will = 2 months since I quit. :)

At the end of the day we're all geniuses in disguise. I've never liked alcohol and had absolutely no interest in other drugs whatsoever. Guess what? I've always felt somewhat stupid compared to other people, don't get me wrong, I've always felt smart too, but at the same time stupid. I was no genius in math or any other subjects for that matter but I wasn't exactly an idiot. And your dictionary example, like OMG it reminds me of me so much, the difference being, I've not been smoking pot. The only few times I've tried it, it was where it was legal to do so and when I was over 18. No one pressured me into it, I had it offered countless times by various people, one day a good friend offered with no pressure whatsoever and I thought why not. Can't say I regret it.

I also wanted to add that comparing making money to smoking pot in the sense that pot would hinder you from making it big time is like comparing making money to low grades and saying that with low grades sure you can make this and this much but if you had top grades you would have made bank. In reality it has no relation whatsoever. I hope that was clear enough and didn't confuse anyone.

Once again, just my opinion.
