What am I wrong about? I'm a little bit upset that you are giving people who aren't fitness and health-knowledgeable a completely wrong impression on nutrition.
I'm far from worrying about eating a pizza (a whole one to myself for that matter) or anything else deemed unhealthy, as I definitely do from time to time. You DO realize the way you formed your original sentence was completely misinforming, right? To tell someone "Hey man, don't worry about eating a whole lot of complete nutrient-deficient garbage, just focus on the math man.." is completely unorthodox.
This isn't even factoring at all how many calories are burned throughout exercise routines and an overall schedule.
You're literally speaking as if your entire diet consists of unhealthy, junk foods, which I know for a fact, is wrong. I would HOPE that you are more than a measly IIFYM fanboy and actually eat clean 80+% of the time, which would most definitely consist of the diet of a clean eater. Just because you allow yourself some cheat days here and there, while obviously working out, doesn't mean you should spew random pseudo-facts on a forum with people that could potentially take your word for it.
And having a six-pack is NO indication of great health.![]()
Telling people to "eat healthy" is too much of a generalization and leads to disaster as is evidenced by obesity rates. People seem to think weight loss or being healthy is extremely difficult and it's not. Hard numbers (macros) simplify it and if you learn about macros and you take the time to find your macros (or have someone do it for you) you'll find that you can eat a lot of "junk food" and still be healthy and be in good shape.
The OP stated his blood pressure went down and while that may be do to removing the doughnuts there is no concrete evidence that that's what did it. There's a number of variables that we don't know... (ex - was his diet exactly the same before/after the doughnuts). He stated he eats two 16 ounce cans of cashews a day. While nuts are considered 'healthy' two 16 ounce cans come out to 5,000 calories (400g fat, 270g carbs, 165g protein) which is a recipe for obesity long term. I'd rather have the doughnuts. I could eat a dozen glazed doughnuts every day and my caloric intake would still be almost 2,000 calories less than his.
As far as 'eating' clean... you're probably right. I'm probably slightly less than 80% clean. I eat pizza & pasta each at least once a week along with ice cream and often times Chinese.
I stand by my original statement. You can eat a lot of 'bad' food while still being 'healthy' and you're 1,000 times better off learning and understanding macros than you are by following advice like "eat healthy" or "I lost 20 pounds eating only tuna fish". Macros allow you to simplify things.
