How to promote my resume service?

That is a tough niche, I know as I am in it myself. I have all organic traffic though but I do know that FB is a good way to build traffic as well as Adwords if you have the budget.

I believe you've heard of 7search, Bing Ads, and Adwords. If not, do a Google search for them to learn more. They are the fastest ways to generate targeted traffic to your site and they are written in ascending order of efficacy.
Bing Ads is better than 7search and Adwords is better than Bing Ads but 7search is the cheapest and Adwords the most costly. If you are willing to pay for traffic (and you should), try any of the Ad networks above. Otherwise, promote your service using SEO and other free traffic sources:

Back in the day before computers, when my first born was a baby, I made kick ass resumes for people and was quite busy. It's something I did on the side besides my own business. I'd post fliers at colleges. Offline marketing still works great for many niches.
To get your foot in the door, make sure you give them something in the begining and a cut for every client they send you...

That's not enough money for a resume. A good resume takes a lot of time and thought. 27 years ago, I charged $50 per resume, and that was considered cheap.

The funny thing is that offline marketing still accounts for more sales than online marketing does for many niches.
10/17 update: Been contacting lawyers around the world and they're game to refer me clients. Building a website now. $150USD for the whole resume. I give the lawyer $50. I hope to get 10 per day altogether which is awesome as I live in Thailand where everything is cheap and the girls chase the boy$. 
12/13 update: While the marketing worked well (Craigslist mostly) and I had many people replying, I couldn't get anyone to buy at $150USD. So I dropped the price to $100 and then $50 before closing shop. I simply could not get customers to pay me. =The End=

Don't give up so easily - there's a lot of money to be made in the employment sector and there is an endless supply of candidates prepared to pay for CV writing services.
Craigslist is just not the best place to find them - get your thinking cap on and figure out other places to get customers and you could do well.
One thing with this service is that referrals are common. Deliver a great service to one person and they will send other people your way.
My advice is to keep at it.

You must consider the business today, not ten years ago. Nowadays, there are cheap and high quality resume builders all around the net, some of them owned by big brands, some by people with deep pockets.
Some of these tools are so sophisticated and "for-dummies" made, that even a fool can compose himself quite a stellar resume using it.
That's why if you don't have the reputation in business, and that's for sure not the case if you're from Thailand (he tried to sell to US customers), you won't sell a single resume writing service, doesn't matter what sort of great marketer you are. Period.
It was one of my niches too, so I know what I talk about.
Having said all of that, in career, or if you want "employment" niche, there are lot of money to be made. But it's not by writing resumes for the others....
