USA education is horrible

Education is only what you make it.
at the end of the day it's a free resource - shitloads of time with knowledgable people and physical resources.

make the most of it whilst you're there coa life gets a lot harder :-)

I disagree. In Romania there are free colleges. Also the education is good quality (not the best but pretty good). THere are many foreigners starting college in Romania, because it's cheaper, it's good and it's accepted worldwide.

Actually, foreigners go to Romanian Universities to buy their degrees ;)

Education is only what you make it.

i'll say! i was taught:

* how to make a large sugar scoop out of sheet metal.

* how to glue three pieces of wood to a board and claim it's an image of a boat.

* how to find hidden words in a jumble puzzle ("fun sheets" as the teacher called them).

* that mercury is a *mineral*.

* that the gas coming out of a car's tailpipe is carbon *dioxide*.

* that smearing water colors on paper is a good way to spend 30 minutes.

* that teachers sneak vodka and porn mags into the classroom.

you'd be amazed at how useful all of that "education" is today.
:D

Yeah? Come to my country to see how is it here ...

Education doesn't provide profound professional knowledge and skills, but it eliminates the illiteracy and lacking in personality. So the mind of youth opens with each new experience, but you still need a strong educational background

Being "corporate slaves" or not is your choice, not your education choice. Why? Because the culture of most people in the world are as follows : "born - go to school - work in big companies - die".

Just take a look at Singapore, the #2 in the world. Do they learn much about entrepreneurship and self-experiment? They don't. Most of Asian education in advanced countries such as in Japan, South Korea, and China are based on rote and memorizing the steps to solve a particular problem, not on understanding the problem and formulate a solution. In fact, Western based education (at least during my time) leans more on self-experiment and self-thought.

In Western style education ( I experienced this on Australia, but I don't know in US) we can freely choose our own class. You don't want to study Advanced Math? Fine, you can go study other class. In Asian countries, you must study ALL of them. You don't like math? Too bad, here's Advanced Math class for you.

This goes without mention that American universities, expensive they may be, are churning out great quality people. Yes, they may be "corporate slaves". But will your Internet works without these slaves? Electricity? Running water? Food? Accept it, not all people can be an entrepreneur. The reason that the Americans are "ruling" the world as we speak now, is their education system, added with the will of the American people.

Are Americans stupid?
America is the first country to send the people to the moon.
America is the country who have most inventions and patents.
America is the country who writes most research papers in the world.
America is the leading country in military, biochemistry, and Internet technology.

Yes, education system should be improved, but don't blame your government for "wanting to produce slaves for corporations". In fact, most of the people CHOSE to be a slave themselves, to keep themselves safe, "happy", and well-fed. Only a few chose the risky path of entrepreneurship.

The reason that the Americans are "ruling" the world as we speak now, is their education system,

British Empire destroyed after WW2 and US taking over? No
US as the biggest economy in the world? No
US as the strongest army is the world? No
US Dollar as the global currency for oil? No

"Education System". So, hear that Putin? You've got it all wrong with Ukraine, you should invade with teachers :o

Let's also disregard the fact that because of the wealth, US has been a huge sink of global talent for many decades and that led to the delay of the effects of the low educational results of the local system.

I can't believe someone posted a David Icke video in a thread about education.

Ironically the video has 'Mind Control' in the title.

David Icke lost control of his mind years ago - and ever since he has been accusing all and sundry of having control over it.

School is not worth most degrees. However, there are some that are worth going through the education system for like Computer Science etc.

I am a junior in high school and I agree a lot with what you said. The only class I find useful for myself are video production. I also enjoy history. But classes like math I find pointless after you complete geometry unless you want a career in math. There are many classes that aren't pointless too. My girlfriend for example is in a health careers class and will get her CNA at the end of the year so she can get a decent paying job out of high school so that is pretty cool. I also agree with you about the entreprenueship thing. Even in the class Entreprenurship class I took it teaches you that it is very risky and that is about it and does not encourage it. For some reason schools don't encourage entrepreneurship and as a result society doesn't. As for college I do not plan on going but I might take a few business classes to help with my entrepreneurial endeavors as I plan on being a serial entrepreneur. I think learning by doing would be more helpful than 4 years in a classroom.

It's like having a fat guy teaching you about the virtues of Olympic training. It's rare that he will exert the virtues of bypassing your limits and becoming a better man. More common that you'll hear about how many people train hard not enjoying burgers while how few end up with a medal :o

The saying "he who can does, he who can't teaches" is spot on.

Care to expand on this comment?

It's related to the video shown above by http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/members/185384-fuzzy_corleone.html in theory of pyramid control.

Sure:

Many years ago he was a famous presenter in the UK.
Then he had some sort of breakdown.
Then he spent some time thinking and telling everyone he was God
Then he started telling everyone we were being controlled by lizards that lived in the bowels of the Earth.

I could go on, but hopefully you get the gist.

I'm not going to rant about my personal views on the education system, but I agree with a lot of what you said. The main thing is that you've become aware that there is a problem and you can now take action to address this as you see fit. Keep in mind that just because someone didn't partake in the standard education system does not mean that they are uneducated - there is more than one way for a man to be educated.
