Hey thanks for coming to the thread I have been on this forum for years now and have made a steady small side income with a couple of local clients. I recently got a job a the director of seo for a large company who mainly does paid seo with adwords and bing. They are wanting to get into organic seo and they want to do it in a white hat way. Problem is i have a 90 day probation period and if i do not start producing calls then i am shit out of luck and back to other crappy jobs. The keywords they are wanting to rank are ones like service + major city(for example plumbers in houston or new york roofers) How can i compete with other legit businesses that have biz citations when i do not. Any help black hat world community? My job and family are hanging in the balance. I really just need to know where to start like silo structuring the site, what kind of links to pillow with and other stuff. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!

Dude - if you do not know where to start, you should outsource this to a firm that can handle it for you.
That makes the most sense as you could end up in a real pickle from what you are saying.

You were doing Paid Marketing So You should Sticked with that. As It was Field in which you was Expert. Now you want 90 Days to Over come Organic Experts. That is Short time period. But still 2 Suggestions. Learn Day and Night All Organic and Latest trends and Do it yourself. 2nd way-Hire Some REAL SEO Expert here or anywhere, and He do it for you as White Label Ghost Expert.

I was on the phone with the CEO of a Fortune 500 company yesterday and he was talking about how he has gone through over 50 "SEO" people in the past 2 years and none of them knew what they were doing. Thanks everyone and i have been doing local seo for small businesses for the past 3 years, my new boss just wants to target some incredibly hard keywords. And with all the practice talking to small businesses it wasn't hard to talk my way into this job.

If the completion is medium to easy, probably you can add citations and get google places review in a STEADY pace over a month or two. You will start some movements easily. Do some backlinks to the domain/page as you did in the past. It will start rising.
For organic ranking, Your past experience should help.

Its difficult to understand how easy it is to get such a jon when you are not sure of things yourself. Isnt it simply going to haunt you throughout your probation period. Time for you to do plenty of reading really and I dont understand what you cannot get citations as you claim like others.

You should find some good SEO, search for who is ranking good with his website, and engage with him, explain the project and ask for paid coaching on the project week by week. He teaches you what to do, you work hard to learn and you do the work, you learn, he earn. You need to invest a small part of your income, but you will gain in knowledge.
If you speak clear with your new Chief, maybe they are willing to invest in some good mentor for you in the first time. Company want solution, and you seems to be the right one.

You are up against unreasonable expectations and the boss obviously has no idea about SEO (common problem in the industry).
I would love to go on one of these job interviews just for the lulz.
