Some questions from a newbie (keywords etc..)

Hey!
I decided to make a website two weeks ago, bought a wordpress theme, domain name, etc... It's a website about pugs. I know i'm not gonna get rich with that topic but i just want a bit of money and earn some experience for my next website(s).

So before creating my website, i read some stuff about keywords research but i'm a complete beginner and i think i misread it. I thought i just had to make a research about a niche, take one keyword with low competition, good monthly searches and good suggested bid and make the website and posts only about that keyword. But i guess i was wrong (or partially?) right?

Let's say i made a post about pugs hair loss. The title is "My pug is losing his hair. What can i do?" and i used "pug is losing his hair" as main keywords in wordpress SEO by Yoast. Did i make a mistake? Is that a long tail keywords?
Now is it ok to just use the main keyword (pug) in every post and not a single another keyword?

Now i have one question about the google keyword planner. I don't really understand what is the "suggested bid". I read a lot of posts saying it has to be high enough but i'm not sure why. Does it have something to do with adsense? Let's say my suggested bid is 1$ for my keyword, does it mean it will display ads about that keyword making me earn approximately 1$ per click?

I have a lot of questions but i'm kinda lost and it's a complete mess in my head now. I hope you understand what i'm trying to ask. Thanks!

I'm using one or two h3 titles with my keyword inside in my posts if that's what you are asking. I'm not using H1 and H2 because it's wayyyy to big and not really pleasing to read i think.

I think "suggested bit" is for people who's planning to advertise on adwords, IMO, and it depends what your doing...

I used the keyword planner when i was looking for a good niche but decided to make a website about something i like instead. I didn't use it after this.
I wasn't sure if i had to make a keyword research for every post but i guess i had to. For example, when i made a post about "Why does my pug snort?" i used the keywords "pug snoring" (and title, meta etc..). Is it wrong?

Edit for Sashablack: Yeah, i guess i'll have to change that and find a good structure for my posts. H1 is really big and annoying to read :sad:

Using the Google KW planner is ease of use. Just post your URL in the tab for Global search. You will get lot of KW suggestion automatically. You can pick from those list of KW's

You will know if the keyword is easy to rank or not, just enter your primary keyword into google search. If the top 10 websites have less than 20 DA/PA. From what you wrote about, you are doing great.

Suggested bid is for who is buying AdWords advertising. In order to rank good on the Ads in Google you need to have some good parameter: Quality of the page, Quality of the ADS and a good bid price.

But this is if you are buying the clicks. If you are on Adsense you earn only part of this money. But they still change due to the people that are bidding in the time you advertise.

What do you mean by DA/PA? Displayed ads/paid ads on the first google page i guess? There's only one or two ads right now if that's what you mean.

Ok so i think i understood the basics of SEO now. I have to improve my website, make some tweaks and promote it (another hard part for me!).
I'm still reading if you guys have some advices/tips. Thanks anyway.

Oh, another question! Let's say i found 2 keywords about pugs, the first one is simply "pug" with 70000 searches, the second one is "cheap pug" with 5000 searches. Does it mean if i use "cheap pug" as main keywords in a post, i'm getting the 70000 searches from "pug" + 5000 from "cheap pug"?

Dude it's the more important thing of the on-page Seo! Without H1 you're out Google before start any king of action!
Please re-read on Seo concept on books not on crappy internet websites (they only want you to buy their ideas and services).

Yes i know i have to do something about that but i don't see how to make my post pleasing to read with the H1 titles. My default font size is 15px, H1 is 36px and it looks huge! And i can only put 4-5 words per line in the title, multiples lines in a title make it looks ugly i think. Do you have any advices or a example where i can see a good use of the H1 titles etc..?

You have started it right, just stay focused, rank your keywords and learn from there which should allow you to scale further after rinsing and repeating.

Yup i will stay focused and try to make something good. That's why i'm asking all these questions. I want to learn and improve.

I'm back with another question about H1/H2. I'm using the Sahifa WP theme. Can someone google it and look at the demo on their website (can't post url ), click on a post and tell me if the title on the top is a H1 one? If it's the case, i have my H1 title and just have to change my H3 to H2. Thanks !

Yes i know that now.
I learned that my theme is actually posting automatically a H1 title in my posts so that's ok.
But i have with my structure. It looks like that:

....<h2> Tagline
..<h1> Title of the post
......<h3> ...

It's not SEO friendly at all isn't it? Why my tagline is in that h2 htag? What can i do to change that?

im new to building websites. Iv built 2 recently so il try help you. Read these 2 guides about onpage seo from moz. They explained things alot to me:

Moz in general is a great place to learn the basics IMO. You need to get the onpage seo figure out first. By reading those 2 guides you should be halfway there. Another thing i did was to figure out what the yoast plugin is looking for. Write out your article the way your doing it. Then go down to the yoast plugin and click page analysis. Every required field should have a green circle. Even if its yellow and says ok, ignore it, you want to get it green so you can learn whats needed. Just google ones that are not green and find out what its looking for. Your keyword density should be 1%. To see this,you need to put a minimum of 100 words in the article before yoast displays it in the page analysis

About Yoast, that's what i am doing.

The only issue right now is the heading structure i posted above. I still don't get it.
