Is custom audience over? - Can not upload lists anymore :(

It appears that facebook has made an update to how their Custom list - upload UID function works....

" You can only upload IDs for people that download or use your Facebook app. You can find the ID for your Facebook apps in App Dashboard "



I wonder if there will a 'work around ' for this?

Yesterday also be used. Today enter the FB site that uses custom audience becomes ineffective. Really bad news!!

I uploaded a txt file with some scraped ids and in Availability column i am getting "Not ready" status unlike previous uploads.

So yes, this looks a big change and may affect large no. of advertisers.

So now you need either:
1) the email address
2) Facebook ID only after the user connects with a web/mobile app via facebook

Here is the error i got (Not ready - High Invalidation Rate)

Detailed error shows " High Invalidation Rate"

So it is clear that facebook is matching the uploaded ID's with APP ID's stored in the database from the APP you own.

Here since none of the ID's i uploaded matched with my app's ID's so i got this error.

I must state here that i only uploaded FB ID's & not Emails (scraped from FB scrapers).

Will try Email ID's as well and post the results soon.

Facebook have changed this on August/2014.
You can only target custom audience, who are your audience (i.e. have interacted with your facebook App and/or website...etc).

It makes sense of course, as it wasn't fair to target someone else's audience... but I have to add that with the new changes, custom audience targeting isn't really effective or even meaningful.

If I'm only allowed to target my own audience.... well, I could have targeted them using my own channels...
I mean things like, display messages in my facebook apps... or display Push notification messages for Android/iOS apps (which had to be facebook apps to advertise)...etc..

So, it's not very affective to go after my own audience inside their timelines too

So after scraping, just export as emails and import in to your custom audience campaign as emails

Please don't point people in the wrong direction if you have NO CLUE what you are talking about, I make about $1000 a day just from custom audience, if you don't know left from your right don't push it on the rest of the people who have a potential of making $$

THE MAIN REASON:

The reason why custom audience is SO powerful is because Facebook treats it as returning customers and pushes your ads harder and faster in turn you get high click rate and high conversions!

If you are going with the traditional Facebook back end audience set up then have fun throwing your money away

Emails still work, so upload as emails in your custom audience campaign!

Hi Sasha,

I am also suffering from the problem that UID-upload doesnt work anymore. I use social lead freak and converted the UIDs to email and uploaded the CSV (one column with 1 email) The custom audience was accepted. the ad was accepted. BUT it gets no impressions at all.

I am thinking of getting the refund for SLF since I was only able to work with it 2 days then they made the TOS-change.

You said that emails still work, how is it different with ulead. I would buy it instantly. What do you tihnk?

thanks to ulead pro ive uploaded 25,000 emails ! Today! on one of my accounts it banned me from uploading any custom audience

LOL ... well, I understand that you have an "interest" in continuing this...

You're selling a software that scraps the usernames and/or IDs...
So I fully understand that you're trying to protect your revenue stream and/or avoid possible refunds by recent buyers...etc..

All fine by me bro... as long as it works!

See... as I indicated (and you deliberately ignored) uploading NEW user IDs have been completely discontinued (by facebook) unless they have interacted with your facebook app.

Also I've stated, that I have not tried with uploading facebook emails...

You said it works... and I won't say otherwise, unless it doesn't work for me!

Another member stated that, the custom audience file got accepted, but he didn't generate any impressions... again, its hard for me to confirm this, until I try it with one of my accounts.

Well... regarding your screen shot ... and other claims... good job of course... But I stopped believing screen shots long time ago...
Not because its false or photoshoped, but because its almost impossible to prove that the claimed revenues were because of a specific tactic/method.

For example, there is no way to prove that the income you're showing is completely because of using custom audience lists which were uploaded AFTER the FB change using emails instead of user IDs.

Because of this, the screen shot and other claims are totally irrelevant to what we are discussing here.

Hi there, the upload with SLF and emails works, have a look here:
you can upload the email - use SLF 3.0.1 - the feature is embedded in there. In the timeline of this page there is video on that ... Update: just grabbed it in youtube: (just search for "SocialLeadFreak how to convert UIDs to email AND upload them into your custom audience " in google and you'll find the video.)

You can also use Social Lead Fox or any other scraper out there which gives you the emails. The video shows how to upload them in your custom audience without getting any "high invalidation rate" scrap ...
