How to get seo clients

Hi,

I always try this with zero results:

I choose a keyword with buyer intent and at least 1000 searches per month, go to the second page and contact around 10-20 website
owners. I tell them in short that I can get them to the first page, payment only if goal is achieved. Cancelation is possible anytime.

I write down my website and tell them if they are interested they can call or email me.

Does this sound too good to be true or why do I get always zero results no matter which niche?

They dont need to believe me, if it works they pay if not they have nothing to lose, so there is no risk on believing me or not.

its not important where my site is listed, I want to improve their site.

Why go for websites and not actual businesses? Take 'bathroom remodeling' or 'house painting' coupled with the 'city name'. Since they are typically local results, those on the second and third pages would love to be #1 or at least above the fold. You can increase your business by expanding to yelp, google places, facebook, etc.

Be careful of offering such service. Many nasty clients will bad mouth you even offering free service. And I suggest not to offer such an service. You have to go to clients that can afford to "throw" money instead of the "freebies" grabber. In the end, you will be exhausted dealing with no pay service.
BUT, clients always want to see portfolio be it free or paid services.

all of those websites were of course businesses which sell services or products for that exact keyword

Never offer something for free. All you will get is a ton of clients which might not pay even when you get them to rank.

If your clients are serious about it they would pay before the service even starts. There are nasty clients who will try and not pay. You do not want these kind of clients.

The worst clients in the world are ones that pay peanuts for everything. They tend to be firmly in the 20% of the 80 / 20 rule every-time.

A total PITA and you don't want to be part of it.

Look for decent paying companies, shine your shoes up and you'll be on your way

Are there any better approaches?

Pick up the phone and call them; email gives someone the opportunity to walk down the path of least resistance and a phone call or a walk in is much harder to ignore.

I have guys that make calls (telemarketers) and once they have a lead they transfer the call to a person that closes them.

On the flip side, I've done very well just getting out of the office, walking into businesses and introducing myself and my services.

Emailing is a weak approach because of the ability to hit the delete button without having to deal with any human emotion as decent sales approaches usually involve some level of emotion.

Emailing for new business rarely works unless you are emailing tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands for something like SEO service.

Get a suit on go and approach them offline and i guess you have to be good at closing a deal for this to work as well.

I've gotten plenty of clients by emailing them directly. The thing is though I send them a very personalized email which cant possibly be mistaken for spam. I also don't sell anything in the initial email. I tell them I have referral business to pass to somebody and do they want it. Works like a charm

Good quality is not cheap and cheap quality is not good. I stay away from anything that is free expecially when the opportunity comes in an email. Like others have mentioned if they are looking for something free are they going to be willing to pay later. Usually they don't or they always want a deal

Within a month would difficult. But I would first find a good keyword and use pbns to rank it.

Well, if you can rank it to first spot, then why to sell it? Keep it, make a bunch of more similar sites and make profit on a monthly basis.

It's not just that email is not the best method - it's the content, wording and tone of your email that sounds wrong.

Is your email coming from you @ yourbusinessname.com or from yourbusinessname @ gmail/hotmail.com ?

Do you give them your mobile number or your office landline number?

Do you start the email with 'Dear business owner' or 'Dear (the person's name)'?

Phone calls are always better than emails - but if you insist on ignoring that, then you must do everything possible to make your email worthwhile.
