It's good but you have to know how to use it. Eventually you'll learn what keywords rank easy even without it and then it becomes redundant.

Yes, it's a great tool. You can use Market Samurai as an alternative, but LTP is more powerful. I like that you can search multiple keywords at once and pre-filter keywords

I've never used Long Tail Pro, but from what I understand, other Internet marketers like Long Tail Pro because it compares keywords based on SEO competitiveness. Like you, I also use the Google Keyword Planner in conjunction with several other tools to find my keywords and determine the competitiveness of the first page results in the SERPs respectively.
