Ok so I'll come right out and say that in this post, my inner pages are "reviews"
I've had no issue building high quality PBN links to my home page and sometimes I'll also use PBN for my category pages or an individual review to mix things up, but for the most part my PBN fuels the home page.
This means most of the time I create a new inner page, they have no backlinks.
My PBN is decent size but not large enough for me to use its link juice on so many inner pages, so I'm not really sure how to "naturally" build links to the inner pages of my MS at this point.
I've actually entertained the idea of more emphasis on social signals than backlinks, but the only way i know of building natural social signals will get me 1-2 signals per social platform. Buying them seems like a recipe for penalty so I'm avoiding that too.
I've looked at my main competitor and as far as on page SEO, his keyword density is generally around 2-3%, his inner pages are mostly text which lends itself to faster page load times than other competitors, so I've been able to draw some reasonable conclusions as far as on page SEO.
But totally different story looking trying to draw conclusions from his backlinks. ALL of his inner page backlinks are these crappy forum posts with contextual links within COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT body text. For example, it might look like this:
The Crater Lake National Park keyword research is located near Grants Pass.
And "keyword research" would have been the anchor text in that example.
It kind of goes against everything I've been told not to do... and yet he is completely dominating for every single review so I'm lost unless his on page SEO is the reason he's ranking and these forum posts are not helping or hurting.
