PBN Q&A: Ask me anything about how I build, manage (and rank with) PBNs

Hey nonai,

I would recommend to keep a spreadsheet for every backlink you create from your PBN and make sure you never repeat one single anchor text or in case you decide to use several generic anchors, make sure you keep them pretty close to your main keyword. This way you stop worrying about ratios and also don't lose potential link juice to your money site. Here's a list of potential anchor text to link from 10 out of your 20 sites in a PBN. I'll BOLD/UNDERLINE the anchor text.

1. It's hard to find a good cosmetic dentist in los angeles these days.
2. I found a really good specialist simply by typing 'cosmetic dentist Los Angeles' in Bing.
3. So click here if you want to find out more about the best cosmetic dentists in LA.
4. My brother is a cosmetic dentist and owns his own clinic in Los Angeles.
5. Los Angeles is in the news after cosmetic dentist being accused of murder. Click here to read more.
6. Most cosmetic dentists in LA make around $100.000 USD per year on average, report says.
7. The first thing we did after moving to Los Angeles is find the right cosmetic dentist.
8. The best cosmetic dentists are probably in los angeles, many say.
9. Dr. Brian's website is cosmeticdentistlosangeles.clinic, as far as I remember ;)

Always make sure you don't repeat a single anchor text, not even once!

This is probably the best post I have seen on here since the yahoo voices post, and not a single thanks. unfuckingbelievable.

Awesome, I'm excited to read it! PM me when you post it :)

ThopHayt,

You just inspired me to write a guide on this topic, since I see many beginners finding it really difficult. I need 24 hours or so to prepare a really detailed guide on how to search for domains. It should be ready by tomorrow :)

Fantastic thread, mate. We appreciate you taking the time to lend some insight from your experiences.

I'm in the process of setting up a mix of cheaper, $1-style shared hosting accounts as well as some HostNine type accounts for my future PBN and I was hoping I could get your thoughts on a few things?

1) I've recently signed up with iPage for one of the expired domain names that I purchased with NameCheap. It says, however, that my domain needs to be registered for 60 days before I can host 'or transfer it' it to iPage. Is there an obvious way around this that I'm missing because I'm new to PBN or have I made a mistake somewhere along the line?

Ultimately, I don't want to buy an expired domain and then have to wait 60 days each time to host it and get it up and running, you know?

2) When signing up to hosting accounts, I've read that google can't see the details you enter to sign up for that hosting account - which is great - but what are your thoughts on privacy/security when it comes to the email address used for those accounts.

By this I mean, when I sign up to Hosting Company A and use my personal @gmail.com account to set up that hosting account, should I then use a new @gmail.com account when signing up to Hosting Company B or am I safe running the one account?

Once again, I'm really appreciating the help. While I wait for a reply I might re-read the thread again :P

1. The point is to use a different host for every site. If IPAGE is a problem:

a) don't use them again

b) it doesn't matter because you are supposed to use a different host for every site.

2. Google went through whatever process an entity has to in order to become a domain registrar almost 10 years ago.

Yet only 2 months ago did they start selling domain names, and even that is kind of a joke for now.

It DOES make me happy that my refusal to double my adwords bids for my clients (don't get me started) has played some small part in making this bunch of "do no evil" bullshitters start finally looking elsewhere for revenue to make their shareholders happy.

But at the end of the day, they have been part of the system and had unusual access to domain records since before most of the members of this forum put their first website on the internet.

So, as has already been said, but just to really put it all in one post:

Get several email addresses. A bunch of gmails (or whatever) created on different proxies and all set up to forward to an address you will check is good enough for now. In a few years things will be different, but this is not that forum.

Use those different email addresses to register your domains.

Host all of your shit with different companies and all fake names and addresses. PROTIP: If you spend a few minutes up front setting up a bunch of fake emails to forward to one email address, it makes it easier to do all the confirming and whatever.

Make everything else fake when you register each domain.

The worst thing that can possibly happen is they take your domain away. That's pretty much never happened and not likely to happen any time soon, but think about it: If somebody were to direct that much scrutiny toward one of your sites or domains, it is already a red flag and threatens to expose your entire network anyway. Let it go.

3. Profit.

There you go, a 3 step actionable system to not get screwed by GOOG while building your network.

i do only got one question for you.

are all your PBN grouped by niche or simply just general and posting links to all the site you want it to rank?

thanks, mate.

Hey, firstly thanks for putting so much effort into this thread it has been quite a good read so far!

My questions relate to cost of buying domains.

1) How much would you spend on a PR:n/a | DA:39 | PA:40 | TF:21 | CF:18 | it also has 1 link from a PR6, 1 link from a PR5, 2 links from PR4, 11 links from PR3 & 15 links from PR2. There are no spammy links to this domain and it is currently parked. Obviously ballpark figures or estimates are fine :)

2) The second domain has PR:4 | DA:27 | PA:37 | TF:22 | CF:18 | it also has 1 PR 6 link, 1 PR 5 link, 2 PR4 links, 11 PR3 links & 15 PR2 links. Again the profiles look to be spam free.

I only ask because I really don't have any idea how much domains are worth, I don't mind paying for a good domain but I would rather not get ripped off

Thanks!

How do you know when your PBN becomes ineffective or was reported? I do not connect them to web masters.

You know it becomes ineffective when you do not get any SERP boost from contextual links. It may be simply because you don't have enough sites in your network or your keyword is too competitive. In this case either get more sites or target lower competition terms.

You know your network has been reported when you type site:yourpbndomain in Google and get no results. This means your sites have been deindexed. So from this moment it's a good idea to back-up your whole site one by one and just deploy it on another domain or host (in case the whole IP range was also targeted).

Thank you for your reply! I am not confused anymore.

You gave this code for htaccess

Do you add anything into robots txt along with this?

Please Skype me and I'll share my own robots txt file, with a few tips.

Awesome, I'm excited to read it! PM me when you post it

I'll definitely let you know when it's posted on the forum mate.

thanks, mate.

I have a group of domains (around 70) that are strictly related to one niche I've been into since the early days. However, the rest of my PBN sites are very generic, simply because I want to be able to target as many different markets as possible.

Can I use old articles? It's was de indexed in google.
Thank you

I highly recommend you either use ultra-spun or totally unique content. You can use old content, but don't use content from Yahoo Voices on your PBN. Other marketers just like you may use it on their sites or private blog network domains as well and then you have duplicate content :)

You're welcome my friend.

First of all, I said it plenty of times before and I'll repeat myself once again - I really don't care about metrics anymore. All I care about is good quality links coming from authority domains. Sometimes link crawlers are not able to find certain good links and won't add them up to their algo, so a domain that should have a DA of 25 is just 10. That's why if it's clean and has good links, get it.

Pricing a different thing and a lot of people these days abuse PBN domain pricing based on metrics. I cannot tell you exactly how much I would pay for such a domain simply because I outsource domain finding for my PBN to my VA or sometimes do it myself to see how to the process can be tweaked to get better domains. You can Skype me if you want to discuss the process. I'm also in the process of writing an detailed guide for BHW on how I find domains for my private blog network.

well, now i got couple more question.

are you keeping the post sticky to homepage since there are the most link juice place?
btw, what's your skype? i love to have your robots and htaccess:):

Hey, a couple of other questions :) _______________________1. When registering new cheap hosting, they usually send you an automaticly generated password and login -> do you go and change it every time? Or is it ok just to leave it like that? _______________________2. How many expired domains is OK to register on a single day? _______________________3. Do you register your money sites on your real name if you can't protect privacy (e.g. .co.uk/.co.au TLDs etc.)? Or fake name? Thanks

What is the best way to INDEX the PBN sites after submitting a post on them? I use pingler, but it don't know if works.. Also I've heard you can just tweet the link or share on facebook and it will be indexed, is that true? Thanks

1) Have you tested the value of linking contextually from inside an article posted to your PBN versus a sidebar link or a homepage link or a sitewide link? What is the estimated difference in link juice from a sidebar link vs an in-context link?

2) How many different hosts do you use for you whole network? Where do you find them? For me it's difficult to find new hosts after already using about 50. The new hosts I find are sketchy and don't look trust-worthy. How often do you run into cheaper hosts which go out of business or have technical issues?

3) Do you ever simply grab content from the expired domain in the WaybackMachine and re-create the original site? If so, how do you deal with the problem of the old owners complaining about copyright?

4) Are you concerned that one day Google will simply slap all expired domains retrospectively by looking at their history records and deindexing any domain what didn't have content on it for a period of 2-12 months? It seems like a relatively easy thing for Google to track. If the WaybackMachine can track site history, you'd figure Google can too.

5) If one of your domains has been de-indexed, is there any way to get it re-indexed? Like by changing all the content?

Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Ignore the idiot naysayers. This is an awesome thread. I opened an account just to comment here.

1. I use a plugin that 301 redirects all the link juice to the home page/root domain of every PBN site so yeah I try to keep at least 8-9 articles on the homepage for them to push more authority towards the money sites. However, I don't notice a big downwards movement when these fall to archive pages and are replaced by other posts. So these are not sticky homepage links, but with a big network, they do get their chance to stick on the homepage for a while.

2. The Skype id is: alex_pbnsolutions

1. I generate my own passwords with RoboForm's Password Generator when registering hosting accounts. The login really doesn't matter. Keep 12 digits passwords both lower and uppercase, numbers and symbols. Create a spreadsheet for your PBN and be super accurate about this information. You can Skype me if you want and I'll let you take a look at my VA's Excel spreadsheet for our PBN.

2. As many good domains as you need or may want to register. It's up to you to find hosting for them in the long run. If I buy 10 domains today it doesn't mean I need to host them right away. I will probably do it in time or ask my VA to attentively choose the right hosting, make sure we don't get some kind of reseller hosting with the same IPs as we already have, etc. Take your time with expired domains, register as many as necessary, but do not host or use them to further build your PBN in a hurry. Be delicate with your network, it's your baby and it makes you money

3. I do not have any UK, NZ, ZA, US or CA domains. However, I would definitely use a fake name whenever possible or if it's a really important website like a true business and not just an affiliate website used for delivering an offer to visitors and making money I would either use my own name with a temporary address somewhere else from where I currently live or just a relative's name (if they don't mind of course).

ok , can you just share the list of hosting sites used by you. (that will be really good thing)
-=-

Hey prab1996, it would be better if you bump me on Skype for that list. I really don't want to spoon-feed Google a list of hosting providers they may want to keep an eye on due to hosting PBN sites.

Can I have a review copy of your network?

freezeice04, what do you mean by "a review copy of my network"? Maybe you would like to know more about the type of expired domains we've started to use lately for our PBN? Or are you interested to know how exactly we build and optimize it? Please be more explicit with your question so I can figure it out properly.

I'm waiting for the ebook about how to find domains for a PBN sir .

Thanks ,
Ucozer

ucozer, the post on how we find super quality expired domains for our network is under construction and will be published here on BHW next week.

Which small hostings do you use to host your blogs?
I mean ones that cost $1-2 and can be paid monthly.

Ayrton Senna,

As mentioned above, I really don't want to give Google a list of hosting providers for them to monitor closer from now on. You can either PM or Skype me and I'll share a huge list of hosting providers for you and even tell you where and how to find more if necessary.

What is the best way to INDEX the PBN sites after submitting a post on them? I use pingler, but it don't know if works.. Also I've heard you can just tweet the link or share on facebook and it will be indexed, is that true? Thanks

If you use WordPress, make sure your post has a video embedded. Now, add a new plugin called "xml sitemap for google" (just search for it directly in WP plugins). When you're done, go to Tools > Video Sitemap > Generate Your Sitemap and then ping it with the offered one click option. Your PBN post should be indexed in under a minute in most of the cases. If you are having trouble with this method, let me know.

Great thread, mate! I just have some questions:

1. I saw a PBN guide here where he said that it's okay to buy expired domains and link to your money site. Are you against it?
Are expired domains bad for your money site? What are the consequences of doing this?
If expired domains are bad, what should I buy then? And where could I buy it?

2. Do you have any experience with ranking a multi-niche money site? I mean, for every page, I want it to rank for different keywords.
How would you create content for it? Thanks!

moonlighsunligh,

I've deleted the URLs since it won't allow me to post the reply even with your links in quotes.

OK, so I wouldn't host my PBN sites with any company that promotes its services as 'SEO hosting', even if they have different A, B, C class IPs for every site you host with them. The problem is their clients are all PBN owners. So they will host everyone's sites on the same servers. Now, if someone has a large enough PBN network to trigger a manual review from one of Google's employees, they will probably check all websites hosted on that IP and de-index everything without looking back. SEO hosting may be a little bit cheaper, but I prefer to stay on the safe side.

For these providers it is quite the oposite because the provide regular and seo hosting except for the last one. There is also turnkey internet but I am not sure how good they are. I mean - they have both refular and shared and seo hosting as well.

Actually I am intentionally looking hosts that offer both seo and regular hosting and this is how I found these hosting. I doubt they would ban all the network and all the servers from one company.
